Random NASCAR Stuff to talk about.....

Excellent read....... thank you very much...........I really wish I could find the article I read many years ago about when Kyle Petty won the pole at Daytona..... it was about how Felix went to dinner that night and all the car owners were congratulating him..... he didn't know diddly about the ins and outs.... but...... (can't recall who the crew chief was)...... but he mentioned something about nitrous..... well........ Felix said said.... ''Yeah.... that nitrous is great''........

I had to google it, but I found this.....

"Twenty years ago I was at Daytona and we qualified on the front row and somebody told me that it was because of nitrous oxide. I didn?t even know what it was. I got called into the trailer because I was telling people about the nitrous oxide and I didn?t even know it was illegal. They told me that when they drop the green flag, my driver better be running dead last by the time we got to turn three on the first lap. I appreciate you guys coming to see what we've got going on this year and I'm looking forward to it. I think the Car of Tomorrow is a bunch of crap, but that's just my opinion. We've come a long way in my 20 years of racing. A lot of people didn't think me and Chip working together would last for three weeks, but we've proven them wrong."

Here is one of the reasons Loudon lost a date. Night and day difference to Las Vegas racing climate. The citizenry has been able to use noise level restrictions.

I went to high school in Vegas in the mid '70s. I remember the locals screaming about the Saturday night noise coming from little 1/4-mile Craig Road Speedway, now long gone. The airmen and families from nearby Nellis Air Force Base basically had their own grandstand.

Ford Performance NASCAR drivers Chase Briscoe, Austin Cindric, Cole Custer and Ty Majeski will team up with road racing veteran Scott Maxwell in a two-car Mustang GT4 effort for next month’s Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge season-opener at Daytona.

The pair of GS class entries, expected to be entered by Multimatic Motorsports for Daytona-only, will mark Briscoe, Custer and Majeski’s IMSA debuts.

That's a nice collection of up-and-comers in a series suited to their current skill set.

"...next month's ... season-opener at Daytona." 'End of next month' is more like it. Can't get here fast enough. ;)
