Michigan Woman Watched NASCAR Races With Body Of Dead Friend

When Charles William Zigler died two years ago, his roommate and close friend Linda Chase couldn't quite bear to say goodbye.

So she didn't tell anyone about the death and instead kept Zigler's corpse in the house, talking to him and watching NASCAR races with him, according to the Jackson (Mich.) Citizen-Patriot. She told the newspaper she didn't want to be alone.

I don't know about you, but I enjoy watching NASCAR races with other people. Live people. If I say, "Oh my gosh, did you see that wreck?" I'd like to get a response back. I assume many other people feel this same way.

Not Chase, though. She kept Zigler around for at least seven months (authorities believe it was since Christmas 2010, according to the report), leaving him in his chair the whole time.

Perhaps she didn't realize NASCAR races are aired at local sports bars and that she could have found some fans there to talk to. Or maybe she could have tried Twitter during the races if she was that desperate for some NASCAR commentary.

If you are watching a NASCAR race and you believe your friend is dead, I wouldn't disagree with checking their pulse before alerting the authorities. After all, they may have just fallen asleep during a long, green-flag run.

But if your friend really is dead, go ahead and give them a proper burial. Dead people deserve to rest in peace, not be subjected to a dozen KFC commercials or Darrell Waltrip's commentary.

From here.

Six beers in on here and serious serious serious, where the hell are my funny buds. Damn. Later .

I used to work in Jackson MI. The fact that this is occurred is in no way surprising. Total WT and ghetto town.

CLICKY

The above links to Jeff Gordon's website with a bio and a bunch of pics from Jeff's racing past starting from when he was a kid. When people say that he didn't earn his way into the sport they are just so horribly misinformed. He and his step dad (who was in no way wealthy) traveled nearly every weekend to race for 15 years straight.

Anyways, I know there are a couple of JG fans here so I thought I'd post something with those great old pics.

Martinsville announces it is moving Cup qualifying for fall race back to Friday. Cup will have 2 practice sessions Saturday.

NASCAR gets some time @ the ESPY's

Comedian disses Kurt Busch, zings Danica Patrick at ESPYs

Comedian Rob Riggle zinged numerous star athletes during the ESPYs Wednesday night but saved perhaps his best bit for troubled NASCAR driver Kurt Busch.

Riggle, an actor and comedian who hosted the ESPYs, made fun of Busch’s run-ins with other drivers and the media this year.

Busch was fined and placed on probation in May for driving recklessly through Ryan Newman’s pit box at Darlington and igniting a scuffle with Newman’s crew on pit road. He was suspended for a race in June for threatening Sporting News reporter Bob Pockrass and is on probation through the remainder of the season.

“I like an athlete with some edge,” Riggle said. “Like NASCAR driver Kurt Busch is always getting into trouble, getting into scuffles off the track and having it out with the media off the track.

“But in fairness, he always apologizes—a class act.”

Riggle then showed a “Kurt Busch apology letter” on a video screen. The letter, which was scribbled in crayon on a place mat from Jackie’s Slop House, read: “Dear Brain Dead Hippies of the Media elite, Suck it! Sincerely, Kurt Busch. P.S. Suck it some more.”

Riggle also recognized NASCAR driver Danica Patrick and her racy commercials for sponsor GoDaddy.com.
“Danica, for the sake of my marriage,” he said, “you’ve got to stop doing those commercials. My wife is going to leave me if I keep buying those domain names.”

Riggle also had a zinger for NASCAR.

“But enough about racing,” he said, “this show is about sports.”

Patrick, five-team Sprint Cup champion Jimmie Johnson and defending Cup champion Tony Stewart all attended the ESPYs. Stewart won the award for “Best Driver.”

I watched that opening monologue and Rob Riggle was hilarious. This article is a futile attempt at cashing in on Kurt Busch to garner hits. Way out of context.

I agree it was funny but I don't get how it was taken out of context. That puzzles me. The article quotes seem to be right on.

It's all worth a watch IMO but you can tune into the video @ the 11:10 mark for the NASCAR related part of his bit.

I don't see it out of context either. He probably doesn't understand the joke about him drawing circles in the maze.

I just meant that the article doesn't capture the tone of the monologue. As far as the circles on the maze? That was my favorite part of the whole bit.:)

Could mean nothing . Sam is race to race , isn't he ?

That's what Roger said last week. "It's too early to make a decision."

Doesn't it seem like Penske isn't in the loop with AJ and NASCAR? They had wrong info on when B would be tested, they didn't hear from AJ for a couple of days, and now we hear that B wont be tested until next week. I don't think AJ is making things easy for Penske right now.

It would suck for Brad if Sam is his new teammate. Two teams, one good driver isn't the way to go.
It would suck for Sam if he doesn't get the ride . Wonder what his options might be ? Staying at Penske would be tough.

With 111 Cup starts and just 8 top 10's, Sam has had more than his fair share of chances. Penske needs a second driver to share info with the #2 team. IMO, if Sam gets a long term deal to drive the #22 without Penske trying to get a quality driver with the team, Brad will have one foot out the door. Newman was happy to get out, and has since made derrogitory comments about "the Penske way". Kurt has done the same. Apparently, Matt Kenseth didn't even talk to them. Many big name drivers don't bother with Penske for a reason.

IMO, putting Sam in the 22 long term will say one thing. He isn't giving his all to winning a cup championship with Brad. Brad's too savy to sit still for that. A ride until the end of the season is all Sam warrants, IMO.
