WHY when Blaney ran second and third, worth 16 points total did he not gain anything over KB who was outside the top 10 in both heats.????????

Yes, we had the same question. Hopefully someone here can educate us. We have only been a NASCAR fan for 40 plus years so we are still learning.

So it isn't just me. I guess the smart answers were from people who know everything.
I am old fashion so I figured if a guy is 2 points ahead of me and I get 15 points and he gets none, I would assume I am in front of him.

About 1/2 way thru the book. It is scary to read what symptoms Dale was experiencing and feeling.
Finished the book before the race last Sunday. This is not just a book for a race fan.
It should be read by ANYONE who participates in ANY KIND of sport. I had no idea that there were 6 types of concussions that affect
different parts of the brain and the different senses. The medical side of the story is explained very clearly.
Dale's thoughts and fears as revealed in the notes he made from 2012 on, were the scariest. And he was scared.

I don't think we figured in the time in the series seniority points.

Looks like Blaney picked up 47 total points at Kansas, while Kurt Busch picked up 19 total. I don't know how many points Kurt was ahead of Ryan before the race but I'm guessing it was more than (47 - 19 =) 28.

What the hell is going on with him and engines?
I kinda wonder the same thing, if McMurray didn't blow one up also I would really be wondering. The team has the data though on what happened, hasn't affected the rest of the Hendrick cars so far.

I really liked it when a driver had to know how to treat his engine to make it to the end and still drive balls to the wall and win. It made it a little more exciting wondering who was going to blow up next.

It's something going thru racing data in the 80's how many cars had engine or rear end, or trans in the DNF column. They would probably have to race a 1000 miles to have those failure numbers now I would guess.

Especially in the 600 --- it was always a little tense as to whose engine would give up in that last 100 miles.

Someone else can figure those stats out. I'll stick to my crash stats.

I've completed them to this point up to the 1992 season and boy did the numbers jump when they started recording what all the cautions were for.

do you mean the number of crashes?
Yeah racing reference only has the caution reasons for every race starting in the 90s. So before that I have to just count crashed out of the race or if it's a famous enough crash that Infeel comfortable assigning it to someone without evidence.

before that means before 1990? and after 1990 it names names right?
Some races before 1990s has the cars involved in a caution but not all. It's basically none in the 1950s to 1970s. From there bigger races like Daytona or Darlington has them, and then through the 80s you get more and more. It's why the 1949 season I recorded 11 crashes, and 2016 recorded 481.

yeah 1949 would have tons more than that. Maybe the 11 was for cars that went airborne off of the track and couldn't make it back. lol

Yeah lol, I read the comments a lot and people will be like Lee Petty rolled over and kept going...like there is no way to confirm that actually happened, so that's why Inhave the disclaimer that they are as accurate numbers as I can get with the resources I have.

Noticed while watching Radio Active , Chase's car didnt have the Monster Energy Cup decal on the passenger side. All the other HMS cars had it on the right side.

the rulebook in one spot says only needs Monster Cup Series sticker on left side, another spot says both. Coke has an ownership stake in Monster so would figure that Pepsi would want as few logos as possible.
