Random NASCAR Stuff to talk about.....

I'm waiting for news that Joey Logano has been tossed into county jail.

DNewtonespn tweeted: #NASCAR @joeylogano signed waiver not do burnout, then he almost took out police car doing one.

I respect our moderators enough to let them decide what is appropriate and what is not. Without anyone bugging the hell out of them, by way of trying to rule the forum and pushing the dreaded REPORT button, they see a problem on their own and fix it. In my opinion they dont need the help. We all see what happened the last couple of times someone abused the report button. Live and let live.

If the admins didn't think the report button was needed it wouldn't be there. However, I don't believe that it's meant to be used to bug the mods but rather to bring something to their attention.

I find a few comments made here to be sometimes inappropiate but it's only my opinion and not the rule of the day so carry on.

I'd also like to add that even though we sometimes get impatient and frustrated with one another, the traffic our foolishness generates is good for the site so if we can manage to not get too out of hand, all should be good

I really get a laugh about ALL the post that are dedicated to complaining about people who don't post about nascar. Kinda like oxymoron posting.

The first 2 photos are the Hendrick car, it has the shark fin where the RCR doesn't. Also the Hendrick car is much more covered around the windows. Unfortunately the splitter is clearly visable on both.
Wonder what they are going for with what looks like2 fins going from the windshield to the rear windows?1 on each side of the roof???

I've been here during some lean times and it was one or two old curmudgeons that tried to keep it like Friday night of Shabbat. Personally, I never understood why they even hung around here if they didn't like what members had to say but thankfully they moved on.

So, who are you going to whizz on today ;)

I'm sure I've heard Martinsville called flat. It sure doesn't look like it in that photo
In that pick in the upper right hand corner of the bleachers about four or five more sections to the right is where my seats are at. We sit right at the end of the front straight as they enter the turn. We sit clear at the end. To my left is the fencing going around the bleacher section. That whole south terrace is a great vantage point to watch the race with a great view of the track and pit exit. If any of you out there ever get a chance to go there, come sit up there with us!

I'll be leaving for there in 77 days but who's counting?

Correction on that track spec. From the Martinsville website.....

Banking:
11 degrees in turns and flat on straight-aways.

I was probably off a degree as when I finish my cooler full of adult sodas my head tends to tilt one degree to the right for some reason. :D

Obviously you need to supply a link to prove what you've stated as the truth ;) J/K

Thanks.

Not that I'm against it but wobble pops already? I know it's 5:00 somewhere but what time zone are you in?

No, my degree calculations were from last October's memory. It's not five o'clock here yet.

I met a few of those, but thankfully they're gone now. More different people post these days instead of hanging back from fear that their thread or post won't conform to what the circle jerk posse expected. Good riddance. Even with the joking around, I see more serious discussions these days than last year, and that's a good thing.

Hey, I found an old picture of you doing track banking calculations. Google is amazing.

Yes, that was from before my buzz cut days. And of course my jorts too.

A guy (probably about 55yo) ahead of me at the self checkout at the supermarket the other day was wearing cargo-jorts and crocs. He had a John-Deere hat which made it obvious that he is a NASCAR fan still loyal to Chad Little. Or maybe just one of the many local farmers who grow the good food that sustains my community.:D

When I looked behind me while waiting in line I thought that may have been you. I thought that I may have recognized you from the pictures that you posted earlier. I gotta tell you though, that was the express line and you had a whole cart full. You know what they say about Karma. Don't be that guy. ;)

LOL I try to not ever buy more than 12 items per trip. I leave the complicated shopping to my Norwegian Au Pair.

I'll apologize in advance not NASCAR but Random Racing :)

Has anyone been following the Bicycle Velodrome Racing at the Olympics? Interesting stuff. Latest controversy is that Supposedly McClaren helped the British cyclist team develop a possibly vaguely within they grey area of the rules wheel and tire combination. The Brits just to toss a lil fuel on the fire have been covering their wheels before and after each race......I LOVE IT, they've got the Frenchies going beserk!!!

AND every time the Brits Win a medal Dink gives me a hard time

Steve Byrnes' 4 part Dale Jr interview that aired on Racehub this week was excellent. Jr is about as likeable and down to earth as it gets. If he's still running after JG retires I may find myself rooting for him from time to time.

Dang, I didn't get a chance to see the interviews. It is refreshing to see that there are others out there on this board with that view of him. Maybe I'm not here by myself?

Not sure if this has been posted but...

Logano says he has two offers: #20-Joey Logano is mulling offers for two full-time Sprint Cup rides next year, including one to remain at Joe Gibbs Racing, and expects to make a decision soon. "I've got a couple of offers," the 22-year-old driver said on Wednesday at Charlotte Motor Speedway, where he was promoting fall events. "I'm just trying to decipher what's the best for me. What's going to give me the most trophies and win the most races out of? I could be fairly close (to a decision). I could be a few weeks out. It all depends on the next couple of days, actually." Logano would not discuss the name of the other organization that has made an offer. The #22 at Penske Racing has been mentioned as a possibility since AJ Allmendinger was released following his suspension for failing a drug test. Penske Racing also might be considering adding a third team next year as it moves to Ford. Sam Hornish Jr. has been named Allmendinger's replacement for the foreseeable future. "There's only so many good teams out there," Logano said when asked directly about Penske Racing. He said he is not considering a part-time Cup ride. The Cup offer at Gibbs is dependent on finding sponsorship.(in part from ESPN)(8-9-2012) http://www.jayski.com/cupnews.htm

The ESPN article is here http://espn.go.com/racing/nascar/cu...no-mulling-2-full-time-cup-offers-1-joe-gibbs and indicates that one of the JGR options for Logano is a part time NSCS and full time NNS ride.

It's looking more and more like Kenseth is heading JGR with Home Depot on the car and I'm betting on Logano in the #22.

'......of the JGR options for Logano is a part time NSCS and full time NNS ride'.
"There's only so many good teams out there," Logano said when asked directly about Penske Racing. He said he is not considering a part-time Cup ride."

Reading between the lines, I think that's Logano telling JGR that they will need to guarantee him a fulltime cup ride, even if they have to partially fund it out of their own pocket.

"They're working through a lot of that stuff," Logano said. "That's why the next few days will be interesting on how a lot of things go."

The way I read all this is he has given JGR a date by which they need to secure a deal for him. If Joey drags it out too long, and the other offer is from Penske, you may see someone other than Sam in the #22 fairly soon to force Joey to make a decision. I still believe that Penske bumped Kenseth loose by making Stenhouse an offer, and seeing someone like Vickers in the #22 would force Joes hand for sure.

Truex Jr. says contract with MWR is close: #56-Martin Truex Jr. was one of the four drivers who was involved in a 2013 NSCS Goodyear tire test at Martinsville Speedway on Tuesday, August 7, 2012, he was part of a Q&A and was asked about his contract status;
Q) What is the status of your contract with Michael Waltrip Racing?
Truex Jr.: "I think we'll announce it soon. We're really close -- there's no secrets to hide. We're just finishing up the details. I really never talked to anybody else or even really thought about going anywhere else. It's just one of those things where we were concentrating on racing, concentrating on putting all the pieces of the deal together during the week when we're not racing. Really, it's come together nicely. We're very close and we're excited about the future together."(Toyota NSCS Martinsville Notes & Quotes)(8-8-2012)

I don't understand with the direction MWR is going, the way they're performing and the amount of drivers available why they'd stick with Martin Truex Jr.

Napa probably likes him.
