Random NASCAR Stuff to talk about.....

You guys are talking about the driver in 5th position in the standings, right? Yeah, he sucks real bad. o_O

I don't think he sucks. He is a quality Cup driver.
The fact that he's done it this year without leading laps (except at Kansas) and very rarely wins keeps him under the radar. I looked closely at the top 10 in points the other day and was very surpassed to see him that high.

I have to give MWR credit they have came a long way from when they started. I'd venture to say they are the Strongest Second Tier Team out there.
I think it would be a mistake to let Truex get away from them, they appear to have great chemistry and are working closer and closer to that first Win for him. By the end of the year maybe OR maybe Truex is on that Tony Stewart style run to The Championship???

I guess when I read that the only reason that he is with an organization is because the sponsor likes him, I kinda take that to mean that person thinks that he's not really worthy of the ride. I find that kinda laughable as he's the #1 shoe in the organization. That and there are only four other drivers in Cup that can say that they are ahead of him. Personally I think MRW would be foolish not to hire him.

I like Truex. He started off his career well but he just seems pretty flat the last couple years. He gets 1 or 2 races where he seems to run close to the front each year but never seems to be able to put multiple races together.

9th year, 246 starts, 1 win, 22 top 5's and 67 top 10's. Not saying he sucks but there's better available. IMO of course:)

By saying there are 'better available ' , I guess that you are talking about Ryan Newman ?Is there anyone else ?

I don't know. Again there are only four drivers that have a better average finishing position than him in 2012 and there are a whole bunch more that wish they could be nearly as good. He's strung together enough races to put himself fifth in the standings. I think it's just that he's under the radar. If we had all picked him in our fantasy league this season, we'd be doing quite well.

I'm talking about his overall career not just this year.

OK, I gottcha. But isn't it more, what have you done for me lately? I'm not trying to convince you of anything. We all have our opinions. My thoughts are that he's shown improvement over the past three years @ MWR and is doing pretty dang well. I think it would be a mistake to leave him go away from the organization.

He's led at least a lap in a third of the races this year. Definitely under the radar though. Enough so that nobody seems to realize how well he's been running. ;)

I agree that MWR has nothing else better to pick from.

He has run well no doubt about it, I just don't see him as a constant threat to challenge week in and week out.

I don't really count leading a single lap in a race as to much.Unless it's the Final One.Because it's pretty easy to lead 1 lap with Green Flag Pitstops.

Truex's career is a little like Kahne's in that they both got caught up in the demise of the organization they raced for. Kahne has more talent, but it didn't show while he was driving for failing teams. Truex was hitting his stride with DEI when Jr left. We all know what happened to DEI after that. Then he teams with a so-so MWR and is now part of their rise.

The only thing that surprises me is that Mikey believes in him enough not to dump him like he did Reuttimann.

IMO, that's exactly what happened to Truex. He was the dominate driver in NNS for two years and although that doesn't always translate well to cup - as Vickers has showed - I think Truex was well on his way to being a consistanly top ten cup driver. I guess we'll never know.

Wow , you really don't think much of Truex.

Kurt Busch is a former champion and in half decent equipment can run the wheels off of it. Joey is 22, you can still build a program around him and I don't think he's hit his potential yet. Vickers, I'm really quite skeptical about still. He's had some great runs in limited starts but how is he gonna manage the pressures of a full season and can he keep his composure? I don't mind Truex, I won't say he's a top driver though. IMO of course;)

The GT class winner with Andy Lally at the brickyard, Ok we were there to see NASCAR.

would it be hard to make these twice the size to get a better look?
Hell FB I just found out from DP how to post them at all by downloading them to flikr and pasting them on here. Any ideas how to enlarge them and I'll be glad to. We had full access so I 've got a few pictures but you have to be careful about not taking advantage and sticking a camera everywhere or you will not be back.
