Yeah, but you'd have to start the replacement car at the back anyway.
If everyone needs a backup car the pole sitter still gets to start first:D
And I wouldn't even be sure if they would need one. The 1 car looked fairly intact last year.

Great stuff and I love watching the old Riverside clips. It is about as much sliding and manhandling of a car as you will ever see on asphalt it is a wonder that it didn't kill more drivers. The turn 6 wall versus the drivers side door was scary, it killed Joe Weatherly

My boyhood hero, Billy Foster, lost his life against the steel boiler-plate wall at turn 9.

The use of a window net resulted from his crash.

The nets were developed and put into use following Foster’s death. They became mandatory after Petty crashed at Darlington. Rather like Earnhardt and the Hans Device.

“Billy Foster's death was the impetus for the drivers side window netting seen in all closed cars today. It wouldn't be until Richard Petty crashed in 1970 at Darlington and nearly came out of the car that NASCAR required window netting.”

Adam Petty, Tony Roper, Kenny Irwin and Blaise Alexander all died as a result of basilar skull fractures prior to Earnhardt’s death. Ernie Irvan is the only driver known to have survived that injury.

There hasn’t been one since use of the Hans Device became mandatory.

That is sad and It may have been turn 9 for Weatherly too. It was the one that most exposed the driver to the wall

Larry Pollard survived one in 1988 while in the Busch series

It will put the stock back in stock car, allow for lower cost and more industry relevant engines and allow more OEMs to join the sport.

Truth is how many OEMs even make pushrod V8s anymore?

I think it just dawned on Pockrass that the iconic team of Richard Petty is no more.

I give it to those guys they've really went all in on that branding. Personally I think that hauler design is lacking a little but it's their branding so sell it.
