Random NASCAR Stuff to talk about.....

I know some out there hate John Daly of The Daly Planet but I found this article interesting.
From here.

Interesting!

My Girlfriend's Son is an employee at Red Bull. He is an event producer and said that he had never been prouder to be associated with RB than when this exhibition proved successful. I guess there was a LOT of stress on many fronts leading up to it!

But I still watch, or attend, every NA$$CAR Race!

Not NASCAR, But let's remember Dan Wheldon Today...

JR Motorsports looking at Regan Smith for Nationwide: Regan Smith will step out of the #88 Chevy when Dale Earnhardt Jr. is expected to return from a concussion next week, but Smith's connection with NASCAR's most popular driver could become more permanent. Earnhardt's JR Motorsports has targeted Smith as the team's first choice to contend for a Nationwide Series championship in 2013. "We are in discussions with Regan," JRM general manager and co-owner Kelley Earnhardt told USA TODAY Sports. "That's who we would like for that to be. We've been in dialogue and are just trying to work some of the details out. So it's not a done deal, but that's definitely a direction we'd like to go."

It' great to see these drivers invest back to the sport.

JR Motorsports Adds Second Late Model Team

Fresh off its first Late Model championship, Dale Earnhardt, Jr.'s JR Motorsports is adding a second team to the grass-roots program by hiring Reid Lanpher to drive in 2013.

Lanpher, 14, will join reigning champion Josh Berry in the 2013 JR Motorsports driver line-up, with both drivers competing for the title at Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, Va. Motor Mile is one of five NASCAR Home Tracks in Virginia, and hosts NASCAR-sanctioned races in both touring and weekly racing series.

This will be the first time in four years that JR Motorsports has fielded a multi-team operation in its Late Model program.

Regan smith in a JRM car would be interesting for sure, but I hope that program continues to provide a ride for an up and comer. I think Cole Whitt showed enought talent under that broken team to get a chance with the new management.

Anyone ever think that maybe they should take Stock Car out of NASCAR? NASCAR hasn't been stock for a long time now.

I was watching an old game show from ESPN once and the guys question was what did nascar stand for, and he said National Association of Sports Car Auto Racing, of course that wouldn't work either.

Interesting place y'all have here. The level of conversation appears to be more civilized, more informed, and more active than over in the NASCAR.com forums.

Mind if I lurk a while? Until now I've avoided social sites like a loose lug nut, so please excuse my disabling many of those features until I'm comfortable with what they do.

Anybody wanna buy some used #17 T-shirts? :D

Damn DP, you beat me to it. But, since I'm a Yankee,[not a fan], here goes again...
Reid Lanpher has been hired to drive for JR Motorsports in 2013.
Lanpher, 14, of Manchester, Maine, will compete in a Late Model at Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, Va., for the team owned by NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. The team won the 2012 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series championship at the .416-mile oval.
“The opportunity to drive a Late Model for JRM is by far the biggest highlight in my racing career,” Lanpher said.“I feel honored to have such a chance, and I’m hopeful that we can be a real threat on the track. Everyone at JRM has been very supportive, and I’m excited to get racing.”
Lanpher spent the 2012 season competing on the Amsoil NELCAR Legends Tour, where he posted two wins – including a victory on the 1.6-mile road course at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in May that made him the youngest winner in any division to compete annually at New England's largest sporting facility. In addition, Lanpher has made two starts in the Granite State Pro Stock Series, where he scored Top-10 finishes in each of his two appearances.
Lanpher will be a teammate to Josh Berry at JRM. Berry won the Motor Mile Speedway championship this season in the JRM No. 88 Speedco Chevrolet, scoring 15 Top-5 finishes in 18 starts toward JRM's first Late Model title.
“We’re looking forward to having Reid join the JRM team,” said team manager L.W. Miller.“We’ve seen a lot of young talent cut their teeth running Late Models. After the success we had last year with Josh, we’re anxious to get a head start with Reid in 2013.
“He has a lot of experience for someone his age, and we want to help him fine-tune his skills and succeed at this level.”
Earnhardt Jr. founded the JRM Late Model team a decade ago, and 2013 marks the first time in four years that the program will expand to field a multi-car effort in NASCAR Whelen All-American Series competition.

G'day, Mate!
It's gonna be a fair dinkum kinda day when we Aussies win the 2013 manufacturer's crown!

Tell me again why having Toyota in NA$$CAR is such a bad thing...

I'll bet you were Holden it while you thought about Aussies winning the 2013 manufacturer's crown!

You'll accept a check, right? My friend, the Nigerian Minister of Defense, will cover it.

Must not have been lurking around here very long. It gets less civilized than this. :)
Compared to those some of those knuckle-dragging mouth-breathers over on NASCAR.com, this place is a sorority tea party. I'm in tech support, and 'Windows vs. Linux' debates are like religious wars.
