Rate The Race: Talladega I

8. Just once I want to see a plate race go wreck free and see the battle play out between the best plate racers out there. Brad vs Dale vs the Toyota team would be something to watch. Instead, crashes and messed up pit strategy muck everything up.

Excellent race. Talladega at its best. That's even with Junior having his weekly late race issue.

7..happy with the winner

Not the greatest plate race but an awesome finish. I certainly don't want to see plate racing every weekend but I don't see how you couldn't love it with a race like today.

I knocked 1.5 off for the 'Big One' and the resulting red flag.
yeah, I'm still wondering what happened with the pitting going on during that red flag. from what I saw, the cars that stayed on the track when the red waved, restarted toward the back on the field. Unless I completely missed something.

Boring tell the big one

4.5. I won't rate any plate race higher than a 6. I knocked 1.5 off for the 'Big One' and the resulting red flag.

The unnecessary wrecks are awful and time consuming but fortunately not dangerous. The cars are glued together just like on the Dan Ryan at rush hour but at least you can pass on your own.

Liked Brad in Stage I, and Hamlin's strategy to start and win Stage II. The drivers got progressively more aggressive, and the Red Flag was a good dramatic pause for the race. Loved the crowded Grandstands and the perfect weather. Loved the Toyota, Ford, Chevy Final Restart with two Cup Champions of Jimmie/Kyle taking on Stenhouse and going at each other -- add to that McMurray's awesome move to punch through. Just a joy to watch.

And Stenhouse going low around Kyle's block and then throwing his own block -- just the cherry on top of this awesome Sunday!

I loved the crowd too but to add perspective the place used to sell about 150,000 seats and now it is 70,000.
