See any good movies lately?

Rented a movie from Redbox called "Manchester by the Sea." The critics gave it great reviews so I really tried to stick with it, but I shut it off 30 minutes in. Not a bit of excitement in that 30 minutes. If anyone else has watched it, please let me know if its worth watching the whole thing.
Really? I heard it was a great movie

I just watched that, and it actually wasn't bad. You have to be in the right mindset to appreciate it. It's a 2 hour long, somber, slice of life movie about a family (and in particular, about a guy and his nephew) coping with death. I thought it did a very good job of showing what people go through when the inevitable happens. I also felt like I could relate to Casey Affleck's character, because I was put in a similar position when my dad died.

If that type of movie sounds like it might appeal to you, give it another shot. I don't know if it was a grand masterpiece like everyone is saying, but I definitely don't feel like I wasted my time or anything.

Thanks for that. It's possible that I will give it another shot. I'm actually big time into drama films, but more along the lines of feel good movies. From what I saw, there was little emotion shown and when they did show emotion, it looked too fake. I typically dont expect much from independent films, but I did with this one because of the critics reviews. I've also been in a good and upbeat mood and the movie looked like it could ruin a good mood quite fast. Again, I may give it another try in the near future, so thanks for the insight.

I watched Southpaw last night with Jake Gyllenhaal. It was pretty good. It's a boxing movie with Forrest Whittaker and Rachel McAdams in it, as well. I love boxing movies so I guess you could take that into account. It did seem a little contrived and somewhat predictable in a few spots but it was pretty dark and gritty and my kind of movie.

It's crude, it's dumb, it's offensive, and I lost brain cells watching it, but my God I laughed so hard watching Sausage Party.

I had planned on seeing "The Shack" today but after reading all the bad reviews it received, I went with "Get Out" instead. It was good, but very weird. Creative though. I would rate it a 7 out of 10.

I'm not really a fan of darker comedy, but I actually enjoyed "Neighbors." Finally rented and watched "Neighbors 2" today. It was also enjoyable, though not as much as the first one was.

I watched Out of the Furnace last night, with Christian Bale, Woody Harrelson and Casey Affleck. It was really good.

Fantastic Beasts, the first movie in the Harry Potter prequel series, was ... different. I actually thought it was very boring.

Caught this on one of the cable movie channels :
"Meru" 2015 - wild and crazy documentary on xtreme mountain climbing. It now has a perm. spot on the dvr.

I watched Coraline on Netflix. I thought it was pretty good.

I've watched a few movies over the past few days. Here's my thoughts.

Collateral Beauty: I think the reviews were a bit harsh, but it does have flaws and I've seen many feel good movies that were better than this. It did have positive messages through out though. I give it a 7/10.

Don't Breath: An okay horror film, but it looked more like a student film. Multiple camera angle changes that weren't needed. I give it a 5/10.

Sausage Party: Very offensive and inappropriate, but strangly good with a solid story line. I give it a 8/10

That's an understatement. Still enjoyed it immensely though.

Star Wars Rogue one

Totally lame. Waste of two hours.

I don't know about good movies but I just watched one of the worst things that I ever tried to watch. It was Silent Hill. Now, admittedly, I was spooning my girl and having a pretty good time anyway, but it was so stupid and made no sense at all, that we had to just turn the damn thing off.

I totally and strongly disagree. Loved it, could watch again and again. The way it lead right into A New Hope was flawless, and I had to watch A New Hope as soon as I got home.

Casablanca is on TCM, best movie of all time.

Second best Star Wars movie, right behind Empire.

I have a mild obsession with horror and thriller movies. I have a big CD case full of them. Most of them arent scary to me, but one movie gives me the creeps no matter how many times I watch it.. The movie? "1408" Holy cow that movie is scary!

I'm watching Jack Reacher right now.

Saturday, I'm going to see Boss Baby in theaters. It just looks so cute, I have to go.

I watched Magnum Force again last night. It's kind of hard to believe that it came out in 1973. It was kind of cheesy in some parts, with the over the top characters and the clothes were pretty rough but it's still a great movie. And it still has a great tag line that I use to this day "A man's got to know his limitations"

I love the Dirty Harry movies. The Enforcer is probably my favorite, but Magnum Force was really good too.

Saw the CHIPS movie over the weekend, I had pretty low expectations going in as I had seen some bad reviews, but I loved the show as a kid so I figured what the hell. I'm glad I decided to see it, I laughed my ass off the whole time.

There's also a pretty cool chase scene with a Chevy SS in the beginning.

Went and saw Beauty and the Beast a few nights ago. I give is a 5.5/10. Emma Watson was pretty for sure, but I am a thriller/suspense type of guy. Also, I wasnt big on the musical aspect of it.

I watched Pale Rider for the first time on HD and forgot what an epic movie it is. Clint might be a senile old man now, but he was in and continues to direct some of the best movies of all time IMO.

"You just can't beat a nice piece of hickory" I believe he said after knocking the snot out of a bunch of guys with a new axe handle towards the beginning of that movie. Yeah, I am kind of a big Clint Eastwood fan. I haven't seen all of them or anything, but I really have enjoyed quite a few of them. I just really like "guy movies" usually.

Logan. 10/10

Never thought an X-men movie would have made me teary eyed.

Lucy

It's ok. It has lots of action.
Yeah, that movie was aight. I really liked the idea behind it, but I thought it was too short, and I wish they would have done a little more backstory on the main character.
