Should the drivers know where the scoring loops are?

Should the drivers know where the scoring loops are on pit road?

I really see no issues with the current pit speed rules and I sure don't want to see pit limiters in NASCAR. It's pretty simple, pit road speed plus 5 mph and anything over that you make another trip down pit road or back of the longest line. What's the problem? Know where your lines are and cheat the box you can get away with.

If somebody else doesn't do it, I will have my secretary to change my Avator to Labron James soon.

BTW I don't watch NBA basketball.

As well thought out as "because I can."

So, because I don't watch NBA, I don't have a right to comment? You have to watch NBA to know who Lebron James is? I'm flooded with enough NBA scores and highlights on First Look, SportsCenter and NBC Sports Network that I don't need to watch the games to know what's going on.

Sure you have the right, but if you don't like it or watch it or care for it, why would you go out of your way to comment on it? Oh that's right, "because I can."

Also, with all the bandwagon Miami Heat fans on Facebook who were Lakers fans two years ago, I get enough play-by-play information on there that I don't need to reach for a remote.

There are people on this forum who seldom miss a race and yet they are clueless when it comes to racing. ;)

Yep. Some of us believe the rules should be changed when our driver is caught cheating or suddenly support a points system we've loathed for years because our driver won the championship. ;)

Basketball Thread?

Fender, I wasn't suggesting that they limit the car's ability to speed but rather install some type of device to transmit the car's real time speed. If they break the limit, they're busted.

This wasn't even an issue before last week. The rules seem to already work just fine. Some teams didn't do their homework last week and they paid for it. They can easily perform their duties on pit road without speeding but they will always push the limit. It doesn't bother me in the slightest to see them try to gain an advantage getting into our out of their pits. My vote would go towards keeping things as they are. Change doesn't always make things better.
This perfectly sums up the situation . It ain't broke so don't try to fix it .

Same problems arise, so just go to a pit road limiter and tight yield rules.

I said NO. now before you people rip me a new one consider this: Pit road speed limits all started in the early 90's after a crew member got killed on pit road at Atlanta(and I'm sure not the first). The whole idea was to keep crew members as safe as possible. I'm sure a lot of you remember the odd / even pit sequence stuff and many other changes that eventually led to the loop system which has worked for the most part.
By allowing the teams to know exactly where the loops are is nothing more than telling them where they can run at what has been considered unsafe speeds. So why even have speed limits on pit road if it is only being used as part of race strategy and the saftey part is ignored. Maybe they will sell more seats in an effort to make it "more exciting".
I say numerous loops with no one knowing where they are and picked randomly for each race or to avoid the black helicopter talk, electronic limiters in the cars ( should be easy with the EFI system ) .
Remember Nascar has always claimed saftey first.

More intelligent, well thought out responses.

THANKS SOOO MUCH, ANDY! I needed a good belly-laugh today!

That's what I think too! 20-25 scoring loops on every pit road with any ten being active at any given time and changed randomly throughout the event. Tell everyone where they are but also tell them that any segment could be active at any time during the race.

BUT I would have absoluterly NO PROBLEM with a Pit Road Speed Limiter incorporated into thje McLaren EFI system. This would only work for the CUP cars at this time since N'wide and Trucks still use carbs.

Loops are there for a reason. Safety comes to mind first and foremost. If a driver gets penalized for speeding, so be it. The safety of over the wall crews and Officials should be Priority one on pit road. At 50 mph, a 3400 pound car can inflict serious damage to people. Just my opinion.

105 posts on a thread about nothin. Four more days till the next race is over and the crisis will be forgotten . Don't know what the crisis will be next week .

Changing the loops that are used randomly throughout the race would be even better. It would really force the speed limit.
Great idea.

THANKS! I have my moments of clarity in between inebriation and women!! ;-}

A whole lot easier to just tell them them where they start and finish.
