Talladega Pre-race Race Thread

When they showed the radar earlier for about 3pm today it looked like by 4 or 5 they might get going for the NNS race. Maybe it'll go faster than they thought and everything will be on time. fingers crossed

So what do we do today and tomorrow? :idunno:

You need to walk around the camp sites. You will meet tons of great people and see really funny stuff. Maybe make some new friends . Thats what I would do. Its better and funnier than people of walmart, Plus you get to see it in person.

I disagree

as I've gotten older, I've come to believe that it's not the destination that's important, it's the journey

imo, you can't have a great finish without having made the effort of getting there
Oh, I agree completely. I'm just playing devil's advocate.
So what do we do today and tomorrow? :idunno:
Today, it's starting to look like they may get the N'wide race in. We'll definitely get to see how those new track driers work. Tomorrow, IRL from Brazil.

Weather looks bad for Sunday. I just checked and there is a 60 percent chance of rain at the drop of the green flag and increasing to 70 percent. Dang weather!

My phone widget sez
Precipitation 1pm-3pm: 40%
Precipitation 4pm-6pm: 40%
Precipitation 7pm-9pm: 37%
Note: forecast valid for the next 2 minutes

Snow at 1
Freezing rain at 2
Sunny and Clear at 3:15
Global Warming LOL at 4

Went to NASCAR.com and they have no weather info, did a search there and found nothing relevant. wunderground.com says it will be raining all day - the forecast looks like a Tuesday race.

Weather channel says 15 percent of rain now at start but 60 percent by 4 so we may have a shortened race. :eviltongu I hate days like this when the weather does not cooperate. WE all become weathermen on days like this.

Nascar should start this race early. Can they do that and has it ever been done.
I remember there was a big debate about that at Atlanta a couple years ago. It was clear that afternoon, but rain was expected to roll in around 7:30 when the green flag was to drop, which it did, and the race didn't get run until Tuesday. I guess with moving the start time up, you run the risk of shutting out fans who paid for tickets who might not be at the track yet. Plus, some of the local Fox affiliates may already have programming in place that they can't override.

Looks like a few showers may happen but I'd say we're watching racing today, so any rain delays are a perfect opportunity to throw some wings under the broiler

Today there is a 60% chance of a 30% chance, and tomorrow it's supposed to be mostly partly.

Because of my NASCAR addiction I watch every lap of every one of these RP "races" (Talladega has no business being part of The Chase) and I try to enjoy them for what they are. However, there is no denying that the closing laps tend to produce an unbelievable amount of tension, excitement and drama. Even if the majority of the race is somewhat pointless the finishes are often a proper payoff.

And it could be said that the middle laps of most non-RP races are pointless too. On the other hand, any GWC finish produces drama and tension.

I suppose it could be said but no one of any intelligence would say something like that.

how is this different ?

Obviously I was referring to the RP races. The reading comprehension around here is a horrible indictment on our educational system.

no reason to take my question personnal, just looking for a more detailed explanation

as opposed to being obvious, your posts appeared to contradict each other

simply put, it seems that you like non-RP races in their entirety and didn't hestitate to call out someone who disagreed with you

on the other hand, you find the majority of RP races to be pointless

to each his own . . .
