Texas Pre-race Race Thread

I think SHR should start a new policy. After each race the low finisher of SHR should have to run the rookie stripe the next week. Maybe that will give both Tony and Ryan more incentive to run harder?

I think they are running as hard as the car will allow them.

I wouldn't use NASCAR.com anything for toilet paper these days. Their website is the biggest failure in the history of interactive sports coverage. I get most of my news and info, sports and news, from Twitter and Facebook anyways.
The telemetry works just fine and you can't get that on Twitter or Facebook.

NASCAR.com isn't really what I consider a news site. I use it more for watching videos and looking at stats. I am pretty well used to it now and am able to navigate it with ease. Even the mobile app has improved by leaps and bounds.
People don't like change. Simple as that. They'll complain about scrolling down and the like but if they'd look, they'd see that all of the menu options are right at the top of the screen that can take them where they'd need to go.

As far as stats go, I've never used nascar.com for that. Primarily I only use nascar.com for the real time scoring and the like. And that's only because it's not available anywhere else. I can't justify paying for both the mobile app and the web site Raceview options so I opt for Raceview.

Like I said in the other thread, I never go to NASCAR.com for anything except for the schedule, so I am astonished that people care that much. Not passing judgement, it just never registered on my radar before.

Did you know?

Kyle Busch will be attempting to post his 300th NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start this weekend.

Did you know?

4 drivers have made all 24 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starts at TX Motor Speedway – Jeff Gordon, Bobby Labonte, Jeff Burton and Mark Martin.

I really onlt use it for the live leaderboards and schedule, sometimes I watch garage cam too. Other than that I'll use jayski.

The 24 is struggling as well. Jeff said that the revised rear end rules put them behind a bit because they had it pretty well dialed in on downforce tracks last year. Hopefully they can adapt some of what's been working for the 5 and apply it. I would think that any gains that HMS makes would benefit SHR in some way. The CC's can only do so much. It's on the engineers to react to the feedback that the drivers and CC's give them.
Well I'm sure the engineers are happy to know that Jeff runs better when his rear end is dialed in on with downforce.

Chassis 10-723's next on-track activity came in November 2012 at Texas Motor Speedway, where Patrick started 32nd and finished 24th. Since the end of the 2012 season, it was updated to the sixth-generation (Gen-6) Chevrolet SS configuration.
#14-Tony Stewart: Chassis for the NRA 500 is 14-754. Basckup chassis No. 14-707: This car made its first start in May 2012 in the non-points NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway. It was an unassuming debut, as Chassis No. 14-707 started ninth and finished a quiet 17th. The car sat idle until returning to action for the Labor Day weekend event at Atlanta Motor Speedway. It won the pole and led eight laps early in the 327-lap race, but as day turned to night, the handling of the car deteriorated, leaving Tony Stewart one lap down in 22nd when the race ended. It has since been totally rebuilt with 2013 Chevrolet SS sheetmetal, and was most recently used for the open test March 7 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway before serving as the No. 14 team's backup racecar for the remainder of the weekend. After Thursday's open test at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, it will serve as the backup racecar for the NRA 500.
#15-Clint Bowyer: Primary chassis No. 764 is new. In 2012 backup chassis (No. 724) raced a fourth place finish at Bristol in March, fifth at Dover in June and finished seventh at Bristol in August. #16-Greg Biffle: The primary chassis RK-849 is a brand new chassis. Biffle won this race a year ago with a new chassis. The backup chassis RK-809 is the same car that won at Texas a year ago. Since then it's finished fourth in the Coca-Cola 600, fourth in Michigan, 16th at Dover and finished up 2012 with a 10th-place finish at Texas in November.
#17-Ricky Stenhouse Jr.: Primary Chassis: RK- 827 2012 No. 99 chassis -last ran at Homestead - finished 12th. Backup Chassis: RK-811 - 2012 No. 99 chassis

#29-Kevin Harvick: will pilot chassis No. 404 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stable in the NRA 500. Harvick drove this Chevrolet twice during the 2012 season, earning a 16th-place finish at Charlotte Motor Speedway in October and a ninth-place result at Texas Motor Speedway in November.
#31-Jeff Burton will race chassis No. 416 this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway. This No. 31 Chevrolet finished 17th at Auto Club Speedway in March after Burton started from the 22nd position.

#39-Ryan Newman Chassis No. 39-748: Newman will pilot Chassis No. 39-748 at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth this weekend. This chassis debuted at Texas last November, when Newman was able to overcome his starting position of 36th and a loose right-front wheel that dropped him from the top-10 to 25th with just 110 laps remaining to record a 12th-place finish. Since then, Chassis No. 39-748 was outfitted with a new front clip and a Chevrolet SS body, and saw its first laps of the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season last month at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif. There, Newman overcame a late-race pit road speeding penalty to finish 10th, earning his third top-10 finish of the season.

We need a pre race thread for Truck and Nationwide races each week. Speaking of, I guess there isn't any televised Nationwide practice this week?

Nationwide is racing at Texas. You're more than welcome to post whatever you want about that in this thread or create a separate one if you want. I never said anything about this being a Cup only thread, only Texas.

I guess there isn't any televised Nationwide practice this week?
I don't see anything listed for Nationwide other than qualifying, Fri late afternoon on Speed and then the race on ESPN2 later in the evening.

Qualifying 5-6 local time
Race 8:30-11:00 local

I'm not sure what their time zone is? TRL?

If that car is as fast for Kasey at Texas as it was at Vegas look out.

I am kinda confused guys. How did Austin Dillon Get the Phoenix Racing gig this weekend?

Does anyone know why Speed elected to not cover 3 hours of testing at Texas? Could they not have delayed Live K&N Pro Series 2 hours? The ratings on speed would have tripled.

I see why Speed does not have the test coverage now. NASCAR ADDED the 3 hours after speed had already committed to its programs.

He was in the #51 at Vegas, too. Seems he's going to run a few races in that car this year in addition to grandpappy's #33.

2nd test top 10. More detailed report should be out shortly.....

Top 10 from the second test session: Biffle, KuBusch, KyBusch, Harvick Gordon, Burton, Dillon, Mears, Stenhouse, Truex.
