The Annex

We are lucky to have a warbird museum a few miles from our home, they have been doing the flyovers at Phoenix for the past few years with a B-25 and B-17 bomber
Wow very cool.... My Dad was a bombardier in a B-17 .........Theres a Museum at March AFB I would like to go to....

Remember my B-52 story this sure made me think of it big time...crank it up listen to that power...View attachment 16124 View attachment 16124

Reminds me of the touch and go landings we used to watch at Barksdale AFB in Shreveport, LA. They would come in right over I-20 just screaming --
3 and 4 planes in a row. Occasionally, the fighters would squeeze in between the big birds.
We found a closed business right under the flight path and would park and watch and just soak it up. :)

Would be a trip to see these fly over the house beat those V-22 Ospreys by a bunch though they were very cool never saw them again....

What an eerie sound. I don't get to see anything like that around here. There's an air show once a year but it is always when a race is on.

Those old planes are nuthin but cool, you should go check em out

Yeah its a bummer I would get a tear in me eye and goose bumps at the race track when they flew by.....Happy I got to see the B1,B2,117's but we never had a B-52 fly by didn't you see a B52 at ATL or Charlotte maybe??

I think it was Charlotte. It was something HUGE, had everyone's jaw dropping.

Really want to see an osprey, had a chinook fly over our home about a year ago and it was an awesome sight. A B-1 would be great to see. They build Apache helicopters about 5 miles from my house and fly them around over the mountains east of here day and night

Last week I was sitten watchen TV I heard a sound I have never heard before I let that go by 10 minutes later another one same sound then 10 minutes later big time noise it was 4 Ospreys and they were low if they were 1,000 feet that was high.... That evening had 3 sets of 4 fly by and 3 by them selves. Also had 2 Chinooks go by....Peeps were comen out of thre houses to see what the noise was all about....... They were training in LA if you can believe that.....Back 25 years when El Toro Marine Base was going we saw Chinooks and Apaches all the time.... March had B-52 and air tankers L-1011 I think they are..
1024px-20080406165033!V-22_Osprey_refueling_edit1.jpg I dunno how that green light is there but sure looked cool.....

I have seen the B-17 at Chinos War Bird Museum was a bit freaky my Dad stood there for 30 minutes seemed like and just stared you could see the gears in his mind thinking a bunch of stuff....Yup the old planes are great.....

When I was a kid in the mid to late 60's during that Asian Police Action we lived out the middle of nowhere
KI Sawyer AFB base was roughly 90 north of us. Twice a week they had maneuvers with B-52's. We lived on the flight path. I'll never forget watching them things fly over our house. I'm guessing they were flying at 500ft.

Nice. When I was a teenager, a trip to the airport was a good date. :) I didn't get to see anything like that though. There aren't any AFB's near here.

Very cool when they are that low you feel the power in your body like being at a Top Fuel Race....... Back in the 80's when I was working sometimes they sent me to Riverside March AFB was next to the race track I would park on the highway along side the runway by oh 1/2 mile and watched the B52's land and take off they just blow my mind still....

But you have tanks and cannon blasts!!!!! To bad you can't see them or can you????

That's kewl. I love the fly overs. It was so disappointing when the military stopped.
With the Federal budget being what it is these days, it is a shame. A shame too that the services have also had to pull their sponsorships too.

Oh yes, I do get to hear the big guns. And there was that double sonic boom right above us a few months ago. I think they were from Moody AFB. I don't get to see any of the gear unless they are hauling them out to take to war someplace. We see that, we know something is going down.

There is an article at Jayski's today about that....

Hi Lin :waver:

It really is. So much in terms of quality and choice have gone the way side of saving $$$. We have Walmart replacing just about everything and everything is made in China.

I hate that. We can't get around buying items made in China.

I have 5 active military airfields and 1 base that is cloaked in secrecy within 41 miles of my home. We also have the National Naval Aviation Museum 9 miles from my home. This is also the home of the Navy's Blue Angels that are here anytime that they aren't putting on a show somewhere. It's a damn good thing that I like flyovers. :D
