You need to get out more.Wow, how did I miss this thread? I guess I need to raise my level of awareness....
Something must have went down behind closed doors recently?????I doubt there'll be a split of any kind in NASCAR. I think this is the owners/teams/drivers getting together to discuss what they are willing to put up with from NASCAR (Brian France.)
It's time to rein in Brian France.
So far it's just the heavy-hitter teams. I wonder if more teams will join in the future.
I don't know if you saw it but FenderBumper posted an audio link a page or two back that is pretty interesting and addresses that question somewhat - there's an interview with Brad Daugherty. So far it's just the heavy-hitter teams. I wonder if more teams will join in the future.
What do you think they are going to do? As in challenge? What sort of challenge? If the RTA challenges nascar, be prepared for ugly on an epic scale.
What do you think they are going to do?
so those small teams may be a little scared to be sacrificial lambs if nascar gets pissed.
Other than a bigger cut of the TV money, another thing I can see the RTA addressing is the cost associated with rule changes. The teams are absorbing that cost right now, but they may now say to Brian hey, if you wanna change the rules, you're gonna hafta foot the bill for it.

Are these the same 72 virgins that were complaining about the NASCAR race pre-empting Lord of the Rings on Sunday?Does it have a nascar track? If they bring in the cash, nascar will come.
I can see it now..."The Jihadi 500 brought to you by Mustaf brothers slim and fashionable vest bombs with nut protectors so you can enjoy those 72 virgins".

Fan participation will include an infield bomb hunt, fuse lighting competition, and for the kids, there will be an appearance by Jamal the exploding clown. Winners of the bomb hunt and fuse lighting competition will get the honor of pressing the button to explode the 2 trackside IED's.
The fan who finds Jamals head will get to wave the green flag!
Totally agree. The cost of a brand new car thats only a year and a half old. And soon to be engine changes? Im sure they are fed up.
There won't be a split. If the alliance flat out says no to any substantial changes that will be costing them a ton of money what can brain do?
Of course this wouldn't apply to safety related changes.
Lock them out? Yeah, he'd do that if he never wanted to make money again and shut down nascar. If they don't have the top oh, 6 or 7 names in the sport, they got nothing. If Brian has balls (which I doubt), he'd lock them out.

No, he'll make an example of one small team first. If Brian has balls (which I doubt), he'd lock them out.
I was hoping you'd chime in with an update when you're able.I wish I had time to read this whole thread, but I don't. So all I'll say for now is: welcome to the revolution, folks!
and the removing of the haulers from souvenir row may have been the last straw????Other than a bigger cut of the TV money, another thing I can see the RTA addressing is the cost associated with rule changes. I wouldn't be surprised to see them go for more merchandise money either. 10%? Sheesh.Other than a bigger cut of the TV money, another thing I can see the RTA addressing is the cost associated with rule changes. Could have definitely been a trigger.and the removing of the haulers from souvenir row may have been the last straw????
I'm actually still gathering details myself. This thing was kept TIGHT. But in the works for a while. There was no one triggering event, nor was there a single reason why it came out when it came out. Mostly just an "enough is enough" attitude among those who put millions of their own hard earned money into a business venture that treats them like crap. It's been boiling for years.I was hoping you'd chime in with an update when you're able.
Thanks for your insight, Allenbaba. Very interesting.I'm actually still gathering details myself. This thing was kept TIGHT. But in the works for a while. What I do know at this point is that all the hotel cost savings bullsh*t is just the tip of an enormous iceberg...and if Brian France continues on his current course, NASCAR is gonna sail straight into it. The powers that be have just been put on notice.
No, he'll make an example of one small team first.
That's what bullies do.
And those trying to protect their empire.
