The next stars of NASCAR

Most of the talking heads are predicting a fall off in track attendance next year because of Jr leaving. It is being reported that attendance was up at 22 cup races this year. Something to compare will be to see if they are right or if the young guns can continue to keep it going. I will be surprised if the NBCSN TV ratings don't go up if and when they have Jr announcing.

After I got eviscerated earlier about my Chase Elliott thoughts I’m out of the predicting drivers career stats. Saying that I will say I think Jones will win a race or 2 next year, the 20 Crew is good, JGR and Toyota are dialed in, and they will be in the playoffs
Eh, I've stopped bothering. There's no way to really support those predictions when they're made; it's dart boards and multi-sided dice. When these guys' careers are over, whoever of us are still here isn't going to remember to look back at those kinds of discussions, and any new members won't care.

yeah that stuff is over my head too. Some like to do that though, not my cup of tea. I do believe Elliott will win a race next year. You can't keep knocking on the door for it not to happen. He was way too consistently in the top 5 last year. Elliott did top 5's on the small, medium and had a pole at large tracks, I would say road courses would be his weakest point.

Obviously Chase has already been anointed as the next most-popular driver, and he happens to be very talented.

However, the top tier in terms of raw talent imo is:

- Larson, Jones, Byron.

Chase is the guy everyone will want to win races and championships for Hendrick (Dale Jr./Gordon), and Byron is the guy who'll come in and win three of 'em before we can blink (Johnson).

Toyota is forcing everyone to step up their talent behind the wheel, which will make for some fun racing. I'm excited to see who of this bunch can mesh with their crews and build some good careers.

This is also exciting, finding out who is going to be the next great crew chief/driver combo in the mold of Gordon/Evernham, Larry Mac/Allison, JJ/Knaus, Smoke/Zippy . Exciting times for sure

You guys have obviously forgotten about that new guy Derrike Cope; he is a real star, he is going to be around for years to come, and he is going to take all of the racetracks by storm next year. :XXROFL:

My Daytona 500 Pick for the 2018 500, I didn’t forget.

I was wondering yesterday how different things might have been or might currently be had HMS not snagged Byron from Toyota. Where would he be? Would he have won a title? Would he be coming to cup and where? Who becomes the 4th HMS driver (probably Kenseth)? Chase stays in the 24 or perhaps still gets the 9 and the 24 goes on the shelf? The whole landscape would be different going into next year.

yeah he did. Blaney has a pretty good crew chief and is going with him to Penske. JMO but Kez and Joey have a history of working together. I'm pretty sure Blaney is going to do the same. I think they will do pretty decent if they can catch a few breaks next year. I wonder about Menard. Moving to Penske it will be easy to compare his stats with RCR. Harvick's sure got better quickly when he left.
Harvick got the CC he has needed all his career. This guy won't put up with any bullsh*t from any driver.
We have already seen Blaney trying to help Brad and Joey but after awhile he gives up and just pulls away. LOL
That CC was what made the Penske Xfinity teams so good before they moved Ryan to WB.
Not many CC's can make a car fast with 2 or more drivers in the car. Harvick's CC when at MWR had 3 drivers and they were all fast. I don't think the Fords will do well next season.

You never know what goes on behind closed doors. Nascar giveth, and Nascar takes away.

Good question....have to wonder if Jeff never retired maybe this would have been his last year and they could have moved up Elliott last year in the 5 (9). HMS signed Willy B at the end of 2015 right?
