I think I'll start a "where is Brian today" thread.
English teacher or person on a forum who needs to correct another's spelling to show others how superior he/she is? Not, sure but leaning towards one of them for sure.Purist. That's funny right there.
Really? In what way? I've never heard that. Is that like a universal truth? Tell me more...LOL.Opinions are like assholes
or, Does Brian Care Anymore?I think I'll start a "where is Brian today" thread.
Enjoy your time here....banging heads with others is half the fun! Thanks and I guess having an opinion that is counter to those that are purest leads to a pile on. That's funny right there.
We get it. Electric vehicles are coming the consumer market place. What some of us are saying is that NASCAR hasn't cared what consumers drive for several decades. That includes the manufacturers that participate in so-called 'stock car' racing.Any business entity that doesn't plan for tomorrow dies. Change is the only constant. You adapt or die. It can't be broken down any simpler than that. You must be a purest that still want NASCAR to race like it did when The King raced. Lets see, that means one guy dominating the season, 7 cars on the lead lap when the race ends, listening to the race on the radio, using terms like "chick" "groovy" "square", and maybe seeing parts of it on ABC's Wild World of Sports. Man, wouldn't that be a great place to return to? Nope, not really. So, NASCAR evolved.

Well, I'm all set then. I'll at least have the Toy Hauler to haul all the extra damn batteries to get my truck to be able to tow it there.Or instead of that realize there are people definitely working on more powerful electric engines.

you do have a long way to go grasshopper before you can rattle off attendance statistics of years past from memory, be able to count race track attendance at a race in a glance and argue the demise of Nascar like a y2k er predicting the end of the world up on a mountaintop.....and then the sun came up..keep working at it.I hope that I have shown that I don't offend easily. No, really? From the time of Top Gun the movie and before? Man, that's old, brother. If no one else has replied yet,

It's a pre-Internet thing, ya know?

Why would anyone want to memorize attendance stats? You can use a search engine to find them. I'm not gonna be on Jeopardy and even if I was going to be a contestant I wouldn't take the time to memorize those useless facts.you do have a long way to go grasshopper before you can rattle off attendance statistics of years past from memory, be able to count race track attendance at a race in a glance and argue the demise of Nascar like a y2k er predicting the end of the world up on a mountaintop.....and then the sun came up..keep working at it.
You're the one who asked, Grasshopper. No, really? From the time of Top Gun the movie and before? Man, that's old, brother.
Actually, you can't use a search engine to find NASCAR attendance stats. The tracks quit releasing them several years ago. In some cases it's difficult to get good estimates of seating capacity. Hence the comment about being able to estimate attendance at a glance; that's as accurate as anyone outside track ownership is going to get.Why would anyone want to memorize attendance stats? You get awarded "trophies" when you sign up, reach a certain number of posts, get a certain number of likes, etc.I gotta ask. I got an notification that I got some trophies. What does that mean?

Basically you get them for hanging around too long. A score over 500 indicates you're spending too much time here and should get out of the basement more often.
Hey, the shoe would certainly fit if I planned on going outdoors...Thanks, Mr. 693 points.
But I'm happy here in the basement!Basically you get them for hanging around too long. A score over 500 indicates you're spending too much time here and should get out of the basement more often.

Not this again...One thing to consider is instead of complaining about subject material you don't care for is to just ignore it. Just because you don't like it or understand it does not make it unworthy.
Not this again...
I was just making the point that you sure are trying to push the electric car deal on a racing forum so 2+2 usually equals 4. Ease up a little, Dude.Seriously, your attempt to counter what I saying is to say I'm an E Team owner, sharehold, spokesperson. Gawd, that is laughable.

Dude, I wasn't trying to push electric racing. I was pointing out that market forces are changing what people want. Manufacturers are changing what they produce, and what they sink money into. Therefore, NASCAR might want to plan for tomorrow instead of doing a "jerk knee" fix for the problem. It 5 years for them to give birth to the COT with no previous desire on their part for anything like it. How'd that work out? Safety, it was great. For racing, it might have been a bit different.I was just making the point that you sure are trying to push the electric car deal on a racing forum so 2+2 usually equals 4. Ease up a little, Dude.

Just sip it slow dude, and don't believe that if a couple of sips are good, the whole bottle will be a wise decision.
I somehow manage to survive here on that basis. You just take care of yourself.
I think most people are pretty clear on what you've said, given that you've said all of it three times. So ... what solutions do you propose and on what sort of time-line?
A start? bud I hate to tell ya this, that might make a good science project, but thinking these people somehow are ignorant of the future? Is your house producing renewable energy for the rest of the neighborhood? Like a thousand homes?I thought I was taking care of myself by responding to you in the same manner in which you posted.
Solutions
1) An open dialog with the manufacturers should have already started. If not, then NASCAR need to be looking at what changes to their products might occur and when they project them to happen. Look at it from a 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20 year approach to their business.
2) Listen to the manufacturers, but also seek advise from those that govern the States you race within. NASCAR needs to listen to (I didn't say do) what CA lawmakers on both sides of the isle might project vehicle, emissions, and regulatory laws that they project to see the light of day over the next 10 years (I bet the auto industry already does this). I pick CA as they seem to be the canary in the coal mine for environmental laws. If you don't believe that ask a trucker about the regulations that have occurred within their industry due to what CA implements. If nothing else, it will give NASCAR a heads-up on what to expect for the races they do there.
3) Take the information from number 2 and apply it to the National level.
4) Look towards European racing and start a conversation to see what changes they have had to adapt to and expect to adapt to in the future. Europe is a canary too.
5) Take the information from all of them and start a long term initiative to start shaping the message you want your fans to head in and start educating them about the changes NASCAR believes is going to happen. That way you develop fans that feel informed, and are a part of the team to the changes you are making. In other words, fans that stay with you because they feel included and a part of something. As this sport has seen, change upsets people and they leave. Too much of it, and it happening too fast upsets the apple cart. Example, all the rules changes in the point system over the last several years. That's hornets nest.
6) Take the information along with your long term and short term goals/plans and develop marketing, safety, and development plans for those same periods. No, they aren't set in stone and yes, they need to be flexible enough to change with anything that gets push into NASCAR's path that is unexpected.
That's a start...
