thoughts on Chevys 2013 car

Nope. He said it will be an SS but didn't name the model.

Yes he did, according to the article groundP posted.

But he [Rick Hendrick] said he is excited that the 2013 SS model will, in fact, almost mirror what will be available at dealerships.

“We do have a 2013 Impala SS in our shop,” he said. “Actually Kasey Kahne is testing it today. I have seen the production car and the race car and they are identical.

“You can definitely tell it is a Chevrolet. It will be a rear wheel drive, fuel injected V8.”

All of that, Hendrick said, makes both racing and business sense in an era where the economy is still struggling to get back to the heady days of the late 1990s.

He said that is because it is much easier to sell a car that fans see on the race track.

I know that. But Chevy said it's going to be a new model. Rick didn't mention the new model.

What is your deal with semantics?

lol You're all over the place, so it ain't semantics. "Rick didn't name the model. No, wait...Rick did name the model, but he didn't name a new model. Wait, he DID name a new model for 2013, but it's not a really new model."

Semantics my ass. How can anyone have a serious discussion with you when you employ moving reality targets?

That's one I haven't heard before. LOL

Sigh...you are just thick headed sometimes. Whatever. Nevermind what Chevy said. You can be Mr Semantics today if it makes you feel all special and precious.

Here, let me illustrate that wacky phrase in all it's wackyness.

????????? Wouldn't an Impala SS be a new model for 2013?

ROFL. SMH!

So Impala SS is a brand new nameplate? Adding an SS makes it an all new model? If that's the case them I guess my idea of what constitutes a new nameplate/model is different than Chevy's.

We'll find out soon enough.

Rick is real clear that the new nascar Chevy is the Impala SS. Maybe Rick and/or Chevy are just being tricky. For now, this is all we have to go on.

??? The Impala SS nameplate has been around since the 1962 Impala SS came out how do you determine it's a New Nameplate?

Neither Chevrolets New 2013 Production car or Race car Will be called an Impala SS. Rick Hendrick probably just refered to it as that 2-3 months ago because he did'nt know what it would be named.

Chevy says it "will be racing a vehicle based on a new nameplate to the brand's lineup."

I can't bet that Rick got it right. It's just good to chat about what has ACTUALLY been said so far.

The new model will be the HOLDEN COMMODORE from australia. IT will be called the CHEVY SS.

Got it?

Turns out if you look at a picture of Ryan Newman after drinking heavily and squint one eye and cross the other, he kind of looks like Sinead Oconner.

How else can I cope with Jimmie loosing yet another race with one bad adjustment. Chad is loosing his cool. And my impatience is killing me. Out of the last 5 spring texas races. Jimmie has finished 2nd 5 times. I think that's what that says.

Ohhhhhhh, I thought "5 Time" meant something else.

Saw this this morning. A little slip up by Chevrolet perhaps.....

OnStar slip up reveals name of secret Chevrolet performance car

Chevrolet is working on a secret new car and has yet to reveal anything about it, other than the fact that it will be the basis for next year’s NASCAR entry.

No word if it’s a coupe or sedan, rear or all-wheel-drive, what kind of engine it has or even what its name is.

Actually, you might be able to scratch that last one off the list.

Tech blogger and Pontiac G6 owner Christopher Price was checking his OnStar account yesterday and pulled up a list of GM cars that offer a feature called RemoteLink. Browsing through the site he came across a listing under the 2014 model year for a car called SS Performance.

The thing is, no car by that name exists. At least not yet.

Short for Super Sport, SS has been used in the past by Chevy to denote high performance versions of specific models, such as the Camaro and Chevelle, but the automaker recently trademarked it, apparently for use as standalone name, although no plans to do so have been announced.

Maybe this time around it means Super Secret.

When asked by FoxNews.com at the New York Auto Show if there will be an SS version of the all-new 2014 Impala, GM North America President Mark Reuss cryptically answered “what we do with SS will be very special for Chevrolet.”

Full story here.

Kinda looks like a G6 to me. Which was a great car. GM would be a fool to throw that in the garbage.

Nice, MoeJoe. The Impala has a lot more styling than the G8.

“We do have a 2013 Impala SS in our shop,”................Rick was right. So much for the theory that it was a never before seen and brand spanking new nameplate. I'm still trying to figure how some people came up with that.

I just realized something. The car comes with a splitter. I'm getting one just so I can pop tires on the Long Island Expressway.

Holden to announce export of the Commodore to U.S. as Chevrolet SS: Holden will announce tomorrow an export program for the Commodore, which will see the Adelaide [Australia] made car become a race and showroom star in the United States. Though sales of the Elizabeth-produced sedan continue to slide in Australia, a Commodore V8 will be exported to America where it will be sold with the Chevrolet SS Performance badge. In that guise, it would also star for the heartland brand in the NASCAR stock car racing series, which runs second only to Formula One in global popularity. Holden has been testing left-hand drive cars on public roads in Victoria in recent weeks and running it head-to-head with one of its strongest potential rivals, the Dodge Charger, as it finalises its end of the important new deal. Motorsport sources in the USA hint that an announcement of the Chevrolet SS program is imminent, including the Holden connection. The coming VF Commodore as the donor car for the program ticks the boxes for American muscle car fans, and NASCAR stock car racing as well, thanks to its V8 engine, large body and rear-wheel drive. Former GM Holden president Mark Reuss, now the head of GM operations in the US and a known fan and supporter of the Commodore, dodged Carsguide's questions on a link between the SS program and the Commodore. Holden chairman Mike Devereux also refused to comment on the strengthening rumours in the US, which were triggered by the announcement. Full-scale testing of the racer is expected to begin soon, and the bodywork expected to be revealed at the same time.()(5-16-2012)
