thoughts on Chevys 2013 car

Nice, MoeJoe. The Impala has a lot more styling than the G8.

“We do have a 2013 Impala SS in our shop,”................Rick was right. So much for the theory that it was a never before seen and brand spanking new nameplate. I'm still trying to figure how some people came up with that.

Rick is real clear that the new nascar Chevy is the Impala SS. Maybe Rick and/or Chevy are just being tricky. For now, this is all we have to go on.

"a Commodore V8 will be exported to America where it will be sold with the Chevrolet SS Performance badge."

It doesn't say it will be badged the Commodore SS, so I guess we still need to wait to be sure of the final nameplate.

Right? Matt's such a card. :D

Second US go around for the Commodore. They wouldn't dare call it the Chevy G8 SS, would they?

Unless they slap the Chevelle name on it, it's going to be called the Chevy SS.

I think I posted this earlier, I don't think they'd call it a Chevelle after the GTO nightmare. I think it's just gonna be SS. Either way, can't wait to see the new Bowtie.

Three down, one to go.

Chevrolet became the third manufacturer in NASCAR to unveil its 2013 car when it announced on Thursday the Chevrolet SS in the Sprint Cup Series next season. Ford and Dodge have already unveiled their 2013 cars, which look much more like their respective production models.

The V-8 powered, rear-wheel-drive performance sedan will be a limited production model 2014 model car that will arrive in showrooms in late 2013. The race car will debut in the 2013 Daytona 500.

Chevrolet has a long history of using the SS (Super Sport) designation on high-performance models of some of its most enduring nameplates. The SS designation first appeared in 1957 on a Corvette prototype race car built under the guidance of Zora Arkus-Duntov with the plan to enter it in the Le Mans 24-hour race.

The Chevrolet SS will be a derivative of the award-winning global rear-wheel-drive architecture that spawns performance vehicles like Chevrolet Camaro and Holden’s upcoming VF Commodore. The Australian-built car will benefit from significant technology advances to enhance overall performance.

“As a passionate race fan and performance enthusiast, I am thrilled that Chevrolet will deliver a true rear-wheel-drive NASCAR race car in the SS that is closely linked to the performance sedan that will be available for sale,” said Mark Reuss, president of GM North America.

“The Chevrolet SS is a great example of how GM is able to leverage its global product portfolio to deliver a unique performance experience that extends beyond the track. I am personally looking forward to driving it.”

Toyota plans to unveil its 2013 model Camry next week.

That pic looks a lot like the Toyota spy shot I posted a while back. It's hard to see the body lines in that camo. I don't know, by that photo it doesn't have much style compared to the 2 we've seen. I don't like the roof line especially from the B to C pillar.

I also don't understand the timing of the announcement and not revealing the cars together like Ford and Dodge did. They kept it tight all this time and then they give us a camo photo

The new Chevy being based off the Commodore has been rumored since Pontiac was closed.

If you look at the hood of the Cruze and some of the other Chevys, I think the SS will have a similar hood where it has the small drop off to the fender tops. I doubt the race version will have that.

Looks just like any other 4 door out there, not very exciting IMO.

I don't think it will be anything revolutionary but Chevy has been putting out some attractive vehicles over the past few years.

But that picture reveals nothing so I don't think it's possible to conclude anything.

The only really hot looking car that Chevy has is the Corvette, even the Camaro missed the mark IMO.
