Truck RACE thread --- Bristol

Matt Crafton has been in the truck series for almost two decades and he still celebrates like it's a big win. :idunno:

He's one of those series regulars. He's really like the new Ron Hornaday of the series. Crafton, if he stays in the truck series for the rest of his career will go down as a unknown quality IMHO.

I never respected Ron for not being able to make the next step.
IMO, drivers like Ron and Matt need drivers like Kyle Busch to accurately recognize their respective places in motorsports.
The majority of drivers move up and prove their abilities in different series. Some are complacent to make it only so far.
JMO.

Hornaday did move up to the Busch series, but I do not remember who he raced for in Cup.

He was competitive for the most part and some are just content with where they are. A lot of the first generation truck drivers were content with trucks. That was enough for them and that should be respected.

Of course he does because any win in the top 3 series IS a big win !!! Truck races are televised for a reason ... as are Xfinity races. Kyles win at Bristol was classic Kyle Busch ........ fought back from a penalty, found a way to get back to the front and win. The resulting teeth gnashing and whine is pure entertainment :lol2:

Yeah, I understand what you're saying but at this level with the opportunities that are available, I can't respect someone that settles with contentment at the bottom of the totem pole.

That's not really the bottom of the totem pole.

To make to either of the three is one Hell of an accomplishment. Crafton has finished in the top ten of every one of his Xfinity starts, I think he would be a contender at the next level. He has everything he needs and does not have to struggle for sponsors to the next level.

Someone with driver ability and the ability to attract sponsors should have a more successful NASCAR resume'.

And then celebrate it like a major accomplishment. Almost sad.

What could be more rewarding than racing your own product in a major racing series and winning ? The KBM trucks are amazing and a great deal of the credit has to go to Kyle .... he is immensely talented and successful.

If only his Xfinity venture worked out... I had hoped he would stick with it longer then that one season. I have no problem with an owner driving what he's footing the bill for. Driving in a second tier series in arguably the best equipment is what I'm not much of a fan of.

If a Cup driver drives his own stuff or helps develop a lower tier team, I'm a fan. One of the best in Cup driving one of the best cars in a lower tier series for the same team he wins races with in Cup is just hard to be happy about, to me anyway. If JJ decided to run his Xfinity races next year in a JR Motorsports car I'd feel the same way.

Maybe Matt just doesn't get/warrant the sponsorship in Xfinity in a ride competitive enough to win? Sure he had some races with RCR, but a full season sponsorship is hard to attain.

Agreed. Good post sir.

Since Mat has Xfinity, or possibly cup skills, isn't it a good thing he is in trucks? Wouldn't he be the one that gives the youngsters top tier competition, when the cup guys can't be in the race that week. If cuppers coming into the trucks is a good thing, think of him as a resident cupper. He could actually be doing more for young drivers than anyone thinks.

Your not suppose to bring those things up. Please don't show the guitar smash.
I don't know if I could stand another round of the worshipers praise.

It's a JGR satellite team or at least share resources. He's a Cup champ and usual winner in the Cup series. He beats mostly underfunded and certainly less talented/developed drivers in not even 1 level down but 2. And acts like he accomplished something major. Be like The Dallas Cowboys playing Fairmont State University Falcons in football. Where is the challenge?

Actually more like a High School QB going down and playing with Pop Warner kids.

Only driver in history to win all three series at Bristol in the same week !!! maybe he will do it again
LOL.......how many have actually raced all three in the same week? My guess is it's a VERY small crowd.

I would like to see him plant his butt in a 410 Sprint and see how good he REALLY is.

Love him or hate him, the guy drove from 17th to 1st in 40 laps at Bristol under the new configuration where it's hard to pass. And people wonder why we get excited over this guy, helluva talent

Of course he's a great talent. And watching him work his way through the field with ease and just drive away from everyone also made it clear how much better his truck was than the rest of the field. You take a guy who is way out of their league and stick him in the best truck, what do you expect? But sure I guess it's great if you're a Kyle Busch fan

I think the fact that Kyle was behind the wheel had a lot to do with it. Gragson was running 2nd and got sent to the rear with Busch, and gained one spot lol. I have no say in whether he runs or not, but I choose to enjoy it.

Yes he did. Passing a bunch of start and parks and 19 year old kids. With by far the best truck in the field. So impressive.

Not sure why you Busch fans have to point out how talented the driver is everytime this topic comes up. Everybody knows Kyle can drive. That's not up for debate. A driver of his caliber should be able to beat the likes of a Matt Crafton and Ben Rhodes. But congrats on the big win I guess :idunno:

I noticed that. Gragson got hit by a freightrain when he got back to about 15th.

What impressed me most about Wednesday night was KB's victory celebration, jmo.

Pretty sure KBM builds their own trucks in house

I imagine he could drive a sprint car just fine ........ Tony Stewart can drive one
