Did they just spend 8 laps under caution?
By the time we come back to Daytona in July, yep, thats what I am thinking tooI give it until mid year before NASCAR revisits it.
Sho' nuff.Did they just spend 8 laps under caution?
Points are a reason. Would hate to miss the chase by 1 point knowing had you been top 10 here in just one segment you be in.If I were in this race, I would just fall off and lose the draft. There's no reason to even bother since you know that this format will give you a caution on lap 20.

That's true, but you have to take that risk knowing what's all on the line.Double edge sword, if you're in this mess and get caught in a big wreck, it's more painful to your Chase chances.
Reminds me of a local radio sports play by play guy we have. "Did you see that!!" No, we are listening to the radio"OOHHHHH" - MW 2017
Asked and answered.Sho' nuff.
Does anyone think they're done for the night?
This is beyond idiotic.
13 laps out of 20. 65% isn't a particularly entertaining green-to-yellow ratio.Whew! Bell just about rolled again for the 2nd year in a row.
They had a good 12 lap run there though before this caution.
I am entertained! I LIKE IT.
@ChexOrWrex for NASCAR prezId be 100% okay with stage racing if the race stayed green & played out organically

Well with this way we don't miss much green flag racing. Which if I remember people complain about missing.Id be 100% okay with stage racing if the race stayed green & played out organically

They could implement the same digital clocks on the car that IndyCar and IMSA have used for a couple of years. Those show time in the pits. NASCAR talked about it several years ago, I think as part of the COT, but it never happened. Can NASCAR just install digital clocks in each pit that tell us how much time they've spent there?
IIRC, the timer starts when they enter their pit & stops when they exit pit lane. Can NASCAR just install digital clocks in each pit that tell us how much time they've spent there?
I rather the yellow come out so we see as much on track action as possible. I do wish laps didn't count until they went back to green however.I miss racing.
These first two stages are too short. Heck, they ran 25 laps to a comp caution last night. The first two stages aren't even halfway. This should have been 25-25-50 or 30-30-40.
Second preference would be to not count the laps between segments.Id be 100% okay with stage racing if the race stayed green & played out organically

Youre right. I was under the impression caution laps didnt count for the manufactured yellows. Thats lame AFI rather the yellow come out so we see as much on track action as possible. I do wish laps didn't count until they went back to green however.
Close enough. Well within the margin of error. This is painful, worse than I thought it could be. When is "Stage 2" going to go green, lap 28?

I'll cut Fox some slack (for once) on this one. They were probably caught as flat-footed as the rest of us by this change, and haven't figured out how to apply their usually heavy-handed graphics approach yet.Someone needs to keep track of this. Why can't FOX put a clock in the corner of the screen for each driver in the pits? This whole "I think he's over 5 minutes" is less than helpful.
