Truck RACE thread --- Mid Ohio

But according to another member of this forum, I’m a clown for saying the “racing” in this series is atrocious. 😭

The racing etiquette is still pretty good in Cup & Xfinity. But it’s embarrassing seeing some of this stuff in Trucks & ARCA.

I don’t know the answer, but a few more veterans like a Justin Allgaier, Matt DiBennedetto, Johnny Sauter or Michael Self (ARCA) would help the racing.

The young kids 15-20 years ago knew that if you wrecked a Hornaday, Sprague, Skinner or Benson you were in for a long season. Now everybody just wrecks everybody

Yeah there’s no accountability. Maybe TV needs to do a better job of showing a rookie getting their @$$ chewed out like Logano/Newman in 2010 or whatever year back then.

The fans for watching a crappy product? This isn’t demo derby or drifting.
If watching made me feel embarrassed, I'd do something else.

Commentating isn't the product. It's supposed to enhance the racing, but the racing is the draw. Not watching because of the commentating is like not eating a good meal because your wine is flat.

But bitching out people for complaining, when said person also complains is kind of hilarious. I mean hell Andy would complain about the Fox broadcast and be told to shut up with his whining.. but same dude does the same with NBC… but I guess that’s fine because reasons

I find alternate ways to watch the race. If I thought the gerbils were an improvement to the racing it would be a different story.

Respectfully, y'all have changed the topic from the racing to the coverage.

I see no reason for anyone watching today's race to be embarrassed. A handful of the participants have reason to be, but most of them are there to make mistakes and hopefully learn from them. Would the racing be better if they had more skills? Sure, but then they'd be racing higher up the chain.

I haven't watched the ARCA series in a few years because I no longer found them entertaining. I give F1 a try every couple of years but haven't had a reason to make that series a habit. If someone regularly dislikes the Truck series, why subject yourself to it?

They do that quite regular. They have so many resentments they can't stay on topic.

Personally, the announcers don't bother me at all. Yes, they start screeching and miss things, but the racing is still the same.
Charlie, I'm with you. Some of racers need to be a little embarrassed at their performance today, but that's what they are there for, to learn how to be competent racers. Some may improve, some may not.

And as a side note, what on Earth does all this sniping at each other have to do with the race? If you dislike each other that much, the simple thing is not to talk to each other. But then, that's just my poor non-binding naïve opinion.

I think you’re reading a bit too much into it. It’s embarrassing as someone growing up wanting to be a race car driver to see incompetence week after week.

If drivers need to learn more. Maybe they should be running local short tracks or ARCA West & ARCA East instead of national TV?

It’s more to do with everyone complains about something, but some folks think only their gripes are legitimate complaints. Rather it’s the racing, or the coverage, everyone has something they don’t like. Which is fine. 100%. I don’t always agree with Andy, we disagree a lot actually because I don’t hate the Fox broadcast. The problem, imo lies in the fact that if someone is going to tell someone not to complain about something, they themselves should take their own advice. Which is why the only person I give hell for it is SOI, since he gives people hell for it. Greg hates the NBC broadcast as well, but guess what? He doesn’t jump on people for their complaints. You do it respectfully, so I do it respectfully with you as well. You deserve that.

Now that’s fine, that’s your opinion. I like watching drivers race with respect, and aren’t just all over the place. It’s why I wish they waited a little longer to go green, drivers were spinning out before the green dropped, that is kind of embarrassing IMO. But that’s more on NASCAR for not being smart enough to realize that the track wasn’t ready.

It's always the same. A wet very narrow road course, truck racing and what the hell do you expect. uh duh.

Why is it embarrassing?

These drivers have already run at those levels. This is the next step up for them. It's Fox's decision to air this series, not the drivers.

I expect them to wait it out a little bit longer. If you see drivers can’t even make it around on pace laps, should probably tell you that you shouldn’t go green..

I agree that decision was bad.

I don't see reason for me to be embarrassed by anything that's not under my control.

I have different expectations for this series than some of you.

I'm off to the X race discussion, assuming TRL doesn't embarrass us all by opening it late.

I think there’s a difference between seeing something as embarrassing, and being embarrassed by it. You can personally think that it was embarrassing, without it embarrassing you.

Cup qualifying is on.

Why is it embarrassing?
Because some people choose to live their lives vicariously through the highs and lows experienced by others. They think that the poor performances, bad decisions and anger management issues suffered by said “others” reflect badly on themselves and the choice they’ve made.

Lack of self. Freud would say poor potty training.

I’d put SOI on ignore but then I would miss at least 67% of the posts on here.

For me, it’s because like I said. I don’t wanna see people just all over the track, running into each other, and a lot of what we seen today. I wasn’t embarrassed by it, but it was a little bit embarrassing. As I said, there is a difference.
