Weather check in...

Well a got a couple of inches of the white stuff overnight and its still coming down. I didn't even try to go in to work. The last time we got a light dusting I ended up driving 2+ hours to go 3 miles. I stopped at an Applebees for dinner and watched a BB game. By 9 the fools had gotten home and I drove home without incident.
Tomorrow is not looking promising. The snow is supposed to last until 6. It will probably get just warm enough for the snow to melt and then refreeze as ice.
I was taking Thursday off anyway to take the wife to her doctor in Charlotte. Pineville actually. That's just over a 3 hours drive. But the roads should be clear.

How do you guys get measurable snow before us when it's been 10-20° colder here?

It never got above 18 degrees here today and it snowed off and on all day. The sun was out most of the day so that was a nice change. A little sunshine can do wonders for your outlook.

Well, well, well...we got snow last night and it closed the biggest majority of the city of Winston Salem. Hmmm, let's see, less than a half inch of snow and the city closed...well, not everything, just the public and private schools along with many business' delaying their hours by at least an hour. People up north would laugh at this, but you have to remember that it wasn't but about a year ago that they just forecasted snow and that closed everything, even though no precipitation came down.

LOL even we wait for an inch worth...

Hmm looks like about 0 right now, with a nice snowpack of about 18-20 inches. Love it when winter is like this in New England. I hear up where I go fishing in Maine the snowpack is about 40 inches !

12°

How the hell does it snow in Florida before it snows in Maryland?

To date: Still NO snow, but we've had 4-5" of ice on the winter.

Andy What drugs are you taking? He is not from Fl. LOL. You got your posters mixed up.
They said on the news it snowed in Jacksonville

It was 79* today, will be somewhere around 76* tomorrow, and on saturday it will be 48*. I wish the weather would make up it's mind and stay one way or the other. This up and down weather has everyone sick with the cough and sniffles! ugh!

Everyone's sick but it aint because the weather wont make up its mind  weathers made its mind up.

It got up to 39° today back down to single digits Saturday with sleet and ice again. :(

Next week will finish off what the meterologist says is "The coldest January on records dating back to the 19th Century."

love that global warming:sarcasm:

A balmy 41 degrees right now, but it is getting colder by the hour. Everything is starting to thaw out, but we are supposed to get snow tonight and get at least 20 degrees colder. High tomorrow of only 18. The 10 day forecast calls for nothing above the 20's for the next 10 days at least.

It was great not having to scrape ice and snow off the car before running errands earlier though.

It's up to 54° here but it's only a one day tease of Spring coldest January I've ever had usually there's a week or two where temperatures are up in the 60s and 70s.

EnergyCast says temperatures are supposed to be warmer than average in February but cold in March.

We're supposed to get 1 - 3" of snow/sleet..........changing to ice then to rain..............

Looks like a decent snow storm for Wed., right now they are saying 8-12" with more on the way for Fri. Six below this morning, but no wind so it wsn't too bad.

I'd much rather have the snow than the ice.

For some reason, it's 15-20° most of the time but it jumps to exactly 33° whenever there's a frontal system coming through so it's always ice or rain that turns to black ice. Snow I can deal with. Ice is a *****.

Worst Winter Ever!

Yeh i hate ice on top of snow, hard to clear and tough to drive in!

just about every educational institution from I-30 north is closed. Got my official notice from the school's SMS system.

i had to go to jury duty today so I call the number and it says I still need to report.

So, I go up to Greenbelt. 30 mile drive - takes 2 hours to get there.

...

only for them to have cancelled jury duty at 8 (an hour after I left).

Thanks Maryland State Court system for ****ing me out of 4 1/2 hours of my morning.

It's a mix of snow and sleet. The roads are something terrible. The drivers on the roads today sucked.

And the Court couldn't give me a letter to take to my employers stating I showed up.

The person with the authority to do that wasn't there.

Yes, I'm pissed today. :)

First one is from the National Harbor and the second is from a gas station I was filling up at.
