Winter Storm Warning

They issued a "Snow Emergency" earlier which basically means roads are blocked off and only the hurricane emergency roads are open and safe to travel.

i havent heard much of anything from home condition wise, just that everybody's home and skipped work (dad was suppsoed to drive to st louis). news says half an inch of sleet/ice composite up there.

The natural Gas Drilling Platform across the street from ym dorm is still running, i'm watching the blocks go up and down the tower.

Cry me a river, Andy.... LOL

pouring the rain here presently. In the lower fifties.

WNY I saw on Regis and Kellie that upper NY had snow. They showed reporters out in the snow.

Tons of snow, wicked road conditions, still snowing, wind is causing white out conditions and now there's ice forming on our windows. Barely looks like we did the driveway a bit ago.

Evening activities canceled all over the place here.

Bucky, we've already broken the record for January and that was a week or two ago. We've had enough snow this season that it would take us through the end of Feb. in a "normal" year.

The roads were covered in ice this morning, but I went to work anyway. Made the 12 minute drive in 17, but broke quite a few traffic laws.......ran 6 stop signs and two red lights. There were NO other vehicles at ANY of the intersections. If I'd have stopped at any of them, I would have been stranded where I sat. When the City Manager finally came to work at 10:15am, he said that he'd made the decision to close City Hall until 10:30 this morning. He then said that those of us who showed up for work "on time" would be able to take off early on Friday!!! WOOT!!!

Edited to add: The ice was melted by noon.

Heard on the news there were 700 accidents in the dallas area. Welcome to winter:eek:

Bless your heart. I'm thankful that our winters are milder here.

you work for the city of burleson?

Bucky, 700 is an under count. If i had my dually and tow strap, i'd be sittin on half of what my dorms cost right now in pull fees.

Got about 7-8 inches of snow today, then sleet and freezing rain on top of it. Later it snowed a little more on top of that! All frozen now, temp has dropped down in low 20s, roads are a mess, a lot of clogged storm drains and windy, hope power doesn't go out. More snow for friday night, but probaly just a few inches so they say. Haven't seen a winter like this since 95-96...way cool! I know most of you guys hate the stuff, but i love snow, as long as it is gone by the third week in March, so i can start playing softball.....lol.:D

We got 10-12" of snow Tuesday night through Wednesday afternoon. A lot of businesses had to close early, including my wifes, because customers/patients couldn't get there in all the snow. I gave my kids a "snow day" yesterday even though I home school them and the snow wouldn't prevent them from doing school. My daughter made a very compelling arguement about them being treated unfairly when schooled kids got out of doing school.

We got about 4" of snow and a 1/4" of ice. It was nasty. The kids school was closed today, too. They've had 4 days off. Mon & Tues were teacher work days. Wed and today school was closed.

Snow, all its been doing this winter is snow............... First January in 40some years that its not hit 40F.

The above-normal temperatures didn't last long.

18°, breezy, icy and cold. :(
