What should be done with Talladega?

I like the Talladega race in the Chase. Plate racing makes up 10% of the regular 26 race season and deserves to be part of the Chase. I'd also like to see a road course in there even though that type of racing only makes up 7% of the season. I'd really like to see them run the same Daytona course as the Rolex 24 as part of the Chase.

The diversity of the tracks makes for a great season of racing IMO. I'm not real partial to the 1.5er's that make up a majority of our schedule. I'd love to see a couple more road course races and and another short track or two in there in their place but it is what it is.

Give this man a CEE-GAR!
(but make it one of them exploding kind for wanting a plate race in the Chase!) lol
I think the road course at Daytona is awesome! They ran an IROC race on that track and it worked out great! Put that in the Chase and they can keep Talladega in too!

I too like the diversity of the season. I don't dislike the 1.5 mile tracks as much as some do. I really like Texas, for example. But there are too many 1.5 mile races on the schedule, I think.

Another road course race and a couple more short track races during the regular season - and one visit to each plate track - would be a good compromise. Most drivers dislike plate tracks, BTW...

I tune in to see a classic finish ,like the show that Brad put on .The great win by Brandon in Arca and a fantastic Nationwide finish . Great weekend . Loved it .

The tension level at Plate Tracks is high for drivers, crews and fans alike. The finishes are normally close and the winner is undecided till the checkered flag waves. Brandon getting his first ARCA win was cool! The N'wide race was dramatic! Half the field in the CUP race was out or damaged at the end of the event. Brad made a great stand to hold off Pee Wee for a fantastic finish! All of that is true.

But it's just NOT racing when half of the engine's power is "restricted" away and every car is runninmg flat-out at the same exact speed for 500 miles.

It makes for a great exhibition but it also makes for a sh!tty race.
Especially when points towards championships are so freaking important.

It'd be like cutting two legs off of each horse in the Kentucky Derby and then sitting back with a cold beer watching them flop around in circles, running into each other.

Some folks tune in just to see the roofs cut off of hammered race cars. The same "fans" create gridlock on local highways rubber-necking at accidents in hope of seeing severed body parts :D

So I take it you think that everyone who enjoys plate racing is a non-race fan that watches just for the wrecks.

Or like blindfolding all of the jockeys, maybe? Now THAT would be fun to see!

Floppin ...I didn't see no damn floppin ! Where was the floppin ? I saw the cold beer and the runnin into but there wasn't any flippin floppin .

Bulldoze it. Build two tracks on the same property, a half mile, and 3/4 mile track and split the dates.

So, Andy starts a thread, and then his balls disappear along with the rest of his stupid bulls it postings...
Andy, get laid or something during these races, which all seem to suck...

He sure got all these guys going, so it's a great thread IMO.

Don't encourage Andy . He will just change the name and start the same stupid thread after EVERY race .Nothing needs to be done with any of them except leave them alone . Especially ,the newly paved tracks which need to season and get some roughness back in them . While I agree that they needed to repave some tracks like Daytona , why would they feel the need to alter the character of the track by taking the bumps out of turn four ? I can't wait to hear what Andy HATES about Darlington . ... "Have At It Andy "...notice how I can say anything that I want about him and he doesn't reply .....tee hee (He has me blocked )

I don't have you blocked.

At least the attrition is real and not a result of a product manufactured by NASCAR to promote crashing.

UMMM....we'll see if that minor nuance makes a difference next week . The good news is that you won't have to retype the thread heading , just insert the track name change . I can also promise you that myself and quite a few others will still love the race and not want to blow up the track.

Darlington has always been one of my faves!

But this is a thread about Dega...

I have said everything I can possibly say about Dega, destructor plate racing and NA$$CAR's decisions so I am OUT!

Peace and love, y'all!!

Seeing potential Chase Contenders (like Gordon and many others) get screwed by Brian France's (epic failed) attempt to increase ticket sales and overall revenue is a pathetic version of auto racing. It shouldn't be about who didn't get caught up in the dangerous "big one". It shouldn't be about who stayed out in clean air and didn't lose horsepower or blow up their mill from overheating. It's about who brought the best car, kept up with the track and made the best pit calls throughout the race. That didn't happen this past weekend. Those kind of things don't happen at plate races.
It's not about my guy getting caught up in some lame-ass crash that wasn't his fault because my other driver finished 2nd and finally moved up into the top ten in points. It's about quality stock car auto racing and that has to do with the overall performance of an entire team backed by a great organization. That doesn't happen at plate tracks. When you handicap the cars; you handicap the race. When the race is handicapped; the quality of the racing is handicapped.

I'll give credit where credit is due, (Brian is a doofus) but plate racing was around looong before Brian took the helm. Do us all a favor, and join Andy with a different sport the next 'Dega weekend, so we can be spared of your constant bitching.

so we can be spared of your constant bitching.

UNFAIR!!!

Bobby is bitching 'bout 'Dega - as am I. There is NOTHING "constant" about that.
Consistant? Maybe as he and I agree on the utter stupidity of staging such a ludicrous event and calling it a "race".

Check yerself before ya wreck yerself, VD!

Ain't nobody forcing you to read anything. The ignore list may be your friend if you absolutely cannot envision someone else having a different comprehension than you of what auto racing really is.

Yes, and he's blaming it on, and I quote, "get screwed by Brian France's (epic failed) attempt to increase ticket sales." You were saying?

Right back atcha buddy. Nobody forcing you to read (or respond) to my posts either. You were saying? Feel free to add me to you ignore list, won't hurt none.

You are saying that he is wrong, I take it. hmmm...
OK, Mang! Dream on!

We will agree to disagree. Some of us like different tracks. I just do not like restrictions on race cars or race teams that inevitably result in torn up race cars. Should be 'run what ya brung" not, here run in a pack with with a sh1tty compromised cooling system and see who comes out the other side.
