What should Chads penalty be CHEATING AGAIN?

Seriously, if this crap is going on behind Chad's back then what the heck does that say about Chad?

Not so much assuming Chad didn't know , more commenting on Bobby Ford 's text he posted of the Rick Hendrick comments .Rick shifts blame to others a bit.

Why should he be penalized. The car passed inspection. How can you penalize someone for something that "doesn't look right"?

nascar can.

YEP! Selective Enforcement has been a hallmark of NA$$CAR for years and years. If you wanna play in their sandbox, you gotta be ready for this kind of bullpucky.

But if I were a car owner or a driver, I would want my team looking for any possible advantage over the competition. If NA$$CAR wants to create a rule to address what Chadski allegedly did, so be it. But if the car fit the template and there were no rules in place to prevent or discourage what he allegedly did then why should there be any penalties?

Except for NA$$CAR's subjective rulings per section 12-4-A of the rulebook, "Actions Detremental to Stock Car Racing" that is...

We are just passing the time until the next infraction by another team . Then we can forget about this one and move on to being upset over the next one.

It's reality dpk, and I think you know it. HMS lost some key people last year, people who know secrets. If their new team doesn't want to use that secret because they feel it's cheating the template, it's their duty to use HMS to get a ruling from NASCAR. Why would they go to the track knowing HMS has a questionable advantage and not do anything to level the field? NASCAR said it wasn't OK, and now nobody has the advantage.
Johnson won 1 out of 4 plate races last year correct? So I don't see this car having a huge advantage over the other teams, if this very car had won all 4 plate races then I'd say there was a very noticeable advantage. Did some one tip off Nascar maybe, is some one fibbing about what is going on, most likely, and we probably will never know the entire truth.

I'd guess that the weather will somewhat delay Chad & teams penalty announcement? Normally a Tuesday tradition of an announcement of whatever NASCAR decides is warranted will probably be pushed back a day or two. Maybe he's hoping that with the weather and all NASCAR may forget? ;)

i think they should behead him before the start of the 500 tonight !

seriously folks it was the first inspection before pratice started. i really don't like the 48 but at least they tried
no harm no foul. my $$ says if it was your dirvers car you would say the same

Whether or not the car made it on to the track makes no difference. It was presented for inspection with the intent for it to be raced. It was illegal, period.

It should be interesting with Jimmie Johnson's 2 point night @ Daytona. Any guesses on how many points that team take to Phoenix? I'm guessing -23.

That would be weird, but I don't see points being taken. 25 would be like 100 the old way, and no rule was broken. HMS wrecked 8 cars and blew an engine, so nascar may have mercy on poor Rick. :)

Was Michael Waltrip's petty infraction caught 'before' the racing started ?

No. He won and couldn't talk his way out of the jet fuel vapor in his intake.
No he didn't win. He was caught before qualifying during inspection before they ever raced. Flashback to 2007.....

[UPDATE: the penalties to the #55 team:
Bobby Kennedy [MWR VP of Competition] and David Hyder [crew chief] ejected from track [Daytona] and suspended indefinitely
David Hyer fined $100,000
Michael Waltrip docked 100 driver points
Owner Buffy Waltrip docked 100 owenrs points
Michael Waltrip's qualifying time disallowed from Sunday's Daytona 500 qualfiying.
The substance was NOT jet fuel. Waltrip will be allowed to run the Gatorade Duel's in a back up car.(SPEED coverage of the NASCAR press conference). Scott Eggleston will be the interim crew chief for Waltrip. Eggleston won the Daytona 500 with Waltrip in 2001.(2-14-2007)
NASCAR Release: NASCAR announced Wednesday that it has confiscated the primary car of the #55 Toyota team that competes in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series with driver Michael Waltrip, as a result of rule violations found during pre- and post-qualifying inspection for the Daytona 500. Crew chief Larry (David) Hyder and the team’s vice president of competition Bobby Kennedy have been ejected from this week’s events at Daytona International Speedway and suspended indefinitely. Hyder also has been fined $100,000.
NASCAR also penalized Waltrip with the loss of 100 driver championship points. His qualifying time from pole day on Feb. 11 was disallowed. Team owner Elizabeth (Buffy) Waltrip has been penalized 100 car owner championship points.
The actions taken by NASCAR resulted from violations of 12- 4-A (actions detrimental to stock car racing), 12-4-Q (car, car parts components and/or equipment not conforming to NASCAR rules) and 20-15.2C (gasoline must not be blended with alcohols, ethers or other oxygenates).
The confiscated car and the parts related to the violations will be transported to the NASCAR Research and Development Center in Concord, N.C. for further inspection. NASCAR said the investigation of the confiscated car is ongoing.(NASCAR PR)(2-14-2007)

Nothing to do with proving anyone wrong. I just want to make sure that we got it right.

Waltrip and bad case of the gas, scarey indeed.

dp said that he was caught BEFORE qualifying , which makes his crime the same as Chad's ..doesn't it?

Should be The same as the Gibbs cars from Michigan. It was caught before race and was a $50,000 fine for each for the oil pans. Those would have given more benefits as they affect the center of gravity on the race car. I say $50,000 and done. We all know in racing everybody out there pushes the rulebook. I love it when people act surprised when they here this stuff. "OMG they're cheaters?".....yup all 43 of them. 

I'm guessing we'll hear tomorrow. Normally it's on Tuesday but with the D500 being a day later, that would be my guess.

well this should fall under the unapproved parts category, and i am sure someone has been docked points before with a similar infraction.

Yes it'll fall under that category but last year with the new points NASCAR did not issue points penalties. I don't think this should call for one either. It was 9 days before the race and the car was never on track. As I said earlier the Gibbs cars with the oil pans is a unapproved part and the cars never hit the track and no points or suspension followed just a fine.

Sure they did..... Several times. I'm not going to do all of the homework here but here's a link to last years penalty page.

I stand corrected Think this should follow the same as the illegal windshields for MWR? It is a body infraction. IDK, glad I don't have to decide.

I can buy that. Thing is, NASCAR has always stated these fines are escalating until they get the point across. Chad's never quite got that point..... yet.

OK. The clusterfrak that was the Daytona 500 is OVER. Now let's get down to the really important stuff!

When is NA$$CAR gonna announce the "penalties" for Jimmie-Chad?
