When will Chase Elliott win?

damn how much better car do u think he needs???? he in top notch equipment wth lol.. all these excuses

The Hendrick cars have not been quite the equal of the 18, 11, 78, 2 and 4 for some time now. Towards the end of their Chevy run, Stewart Haas was outperforming HMS using HMS cars and engines. Even the 7 time champ is struggling in those cars. I think the fact that for the vast majority of the last two seasons, Elliott has been the best and most consistent HMS driver is rather telling. This is not making excuses, this is just facing facts, facts I'm none to happy about.

I agree with this. HMS hasn’t been THE team since 2014, I’d say they have been behind Gibbs, FRR, and SHR since then. Look at Chevy as a whole, they’ve been outperformed by TRD for a while now. Yes Chase is in good equipment but what is top equipment when it’s Chevy and HMS?

so just because they arent beating toyota and ford it means they have sorry euipment now?? larson is getting it done and will prob get it done sunday or in the next few weeks.. he drives a chevy lol

I would say every decade that I have watched racing, it has become harder and harder for a driver to make up for deficiencies in the car. When I first saw NASCAR in the late 70's, Cale Yarborough would grab a couple handfuls of steering wheel and manhandle the car to a win. That doesn't happen any more. In the 80's I saw Earnhardt out dual Ricky Rudd at Bristol with no power steering for 450 laps. Today, the driver would probably be 5 laps down. In 1997, I saw Jeff Gordon beat Jeff Burton to win a million at Darlington with a car he described as terrible all day. You don't hear that these days. I think in many respects, having a good car today is just not good enough, unless EVERYTHING falls into place, something that has not been happening for Elliott. His luck has been 180 degrees from what the 3 car has had.

Larson's car is ANOTHER that has outperformed the HMS cars lately. At least we can safely say it's not a horsepower issue.....

Chase Elliott finished 2017 in 5th place. Larson finished 8th
Because of two engine failures during the playoffs. Check the standings if it were season long. Larson would've been 4th and Chase 7th. Also check the win column.

I believe they call that racing and unless the story has changed, that is also loosely called performance.
Well put.

One could apply that premise to Elliott's numerous close calls / no wins.

There are more cars and drivers capable of competing and winning now than nearly any time I can remember (certainly among the multi-car teams). Chase can drive...I think that is clear. We’ve watched him grow and grow up while on the big stage. Now he’s working to pilot a new skin in the Camaro, and it’s the same adaptation process underway for all the Chevy drivers. He’s performing the best of the HMS group so far (early).

Not sure why folks want to cut on him. I suppose they resent his rise, or, like their caustic buddy KDB, feel slighted by the upstart. It’s really just racin’ folks! Enjoy!

The people that bad mouth him couldn't qualify to hold his jockstrap.

If the criteria is driving a stock car, I'd say you are right. And I'd say the same about you and the drivers you diss on... which is pretty much all of them that are not Chase Elliott. It's ridiculous both ways, IMO.
