Reason for my post is to help show some of the people that say charters are a bad idea. If you sell your cars at end of season, you get next to nothing for them as they are basically obsolete. In the past, when a team folded, all they had to sell was durable goods. Weren't worth much. A Charter guarantees the next owner entrance into every race your first season plus increased pay-out, plus base pay-out that non-charter teams don't get. The only time it will get funky is a couple three seasons from now when there are less than 36 "teams" interested. This **** is expensive. Not a for-profit deal for 90% of people that race. Tax right offs mostly for rich people/companies.So they're not breaking even.
I was referring to kkfan91's comment, that BK's breaking even was dependent on LaJoie not crashing.Reason for my post is to help show some of the people that say charters are a bad idea. Agreed. My point was that even for a low-buck team...this ain't a low-buck sport.I was referring to kkfan91's comment, that BK's breaking even was dependent on LaJoie not crashing.
I do agree teams are better off with charters to sell they were without. There's debate about how much better, but it is a marketable asset.
Sorry, gotta disagree on this one. No P or Q should mean no position on the grid. Revving the engines shouldn't count outside of a car show.I'm glad that they will get to see action. Hopefully, they can close the year out.
Engine builders took chip out of PCM's with them. No Buenos. Guess BK coughed up some dough. I was kinda hoping they wouldn't get to run to see if Nascar would revoke their one charter. Might bid on one this winter since they ain't worth much...hire Aunty as crew chief and put Danica in a good car for once.Sorry, gotta disagree on this one. No P or Q should mean no position on the grid. Revving the engines shouldn't count outside of a car show.
Ha, I didn't think about it like that.Sorry, gotta disagree on this one. No P or Q should mean no position on the grid. Revving the engines shouldn't count outside of a car show.
"Team owner Ron Devine, who faces two current lawsuits alleging unpaid bills and also is involved in a dispute with the IRS..."
Is that on top of the $1.46 million owed to the engine suppliers (mentioned in the kickinthetires article) ?!
Does anybody care if they do or not? I guess if you like caution breaks or watching a (fill in the blank) driver fail miserably. There always has to be someone finishing last and a contest for which team is the worst. If they go, another will take their slot. Finch left a couple of years ago under a dark cloud.
Honestly? They could disappear today and the only way I'd know they were gone is that the entry list would be shorter. Mind you, I couldn't tell you exactly who was missing without checking the previous week's list.Does anybody care if they do or not? I miss John Wes Townley because he could be counted on for a caution, sometimes two or three during the race and they were moments of comedy. Gilliland and Danica or Danica and Kuwapil tangling a couple of years ago is the last time I thought of BK racing. I'll miss those belly laughsHonestly? We'll add that to the long list of things you do not know.He has those valuable charters that @aunty dive speaks of to sell in order to raise some cash. Apparently they make such a difference in prize money that they are worth 10 million each.........but...but...but.....I guess that differential in prize money wasn't enough for the BK cars.
Of course I dunno if BK has charters or not and if they do whether they are owned or leased.
Yeah but destroying the 23 probably didn'tI guess Gaulding's Top 10-finish yesterday has helped them a lot.
They have a long history of not paying their bills and Driver salaries, yet somehow they always manage to get a last minute deal to come through. Must be fun waiting on your paycheck to clear every Friday. No thanks.
Devine is playing big fish and a lot of people who work for him right now are on edge. When the motor guy shuts you down at the track, thats an attention getter. Joey has been owed a lot of money and he finally lost his patience.Unfortunately, when you have to fish in the shallow end of the pond, bounced checks, hollow promises and missed deadlines are a way of life. I've peeled a driver's name off the roof of a car a half hour before a race because the check didn't show up.
Aint that the bloody truth? I remember traveling the Southeast and not having Hotel money so we slept in the Truck. We made it to the race and thats all we cared about.^ They're racers.
You're hilarious. There are a few idiots who have used their entire personal fortunes to finance top-level race teams. I will assume that some of them were racers and some were not.
For someone who is on here every day referencing his own involvement and dedication to racing, you seem to know very little about what makes these people tick. If you did, you'd know why Augie Grill couldn't care less if Kyle Busch submits an entry for the Snowball Derby. Devine, like every other car owner out there, is trying to run a racing operation and trying to improve it. So far, he's been spectacularly unsuccessful. That's as common as dirt.
Whether or not you choose to change your opinion of him is of absolutely no consequence to me.
the above post contains no all-caps words or phrases ...
Worked out pretty good for Eric Jones. He whipped Kyles ass then got hired by him. Late Model drivers dont fear Cup regulars, they all basically have the same stuff. Kinda like back in the day when Cup guys would run thier own stuff in the Busch Series before Roush started building Marks car in the Cup shop.I don't have any idea what Grill thinks, but does he speak for the entire field? All I can tell you is that if were a young driver trying to make a name for myself by winning one of the most famous short track races in the world, I wouldn't want some hotshot that already has his creating a nearly impossible barrier to hurdle. If that makes me not a racer, than so be it. In my opinion, the only thing Devine is doing right now is sinking his reputation in sport to the point that no reputable driver, sponsor, crewmember or supplier is ever going to want anything to do with him. I don't see how that helps him at all.
I did my thing in racing, worked my ass off, had a blast, never netted a dime on it and have nothing to show for it but memories and a permanently damaged knee. If my view of what a racer is, or what people should do doesn't agree with yours, so be it. I really don't care either way.
