Xfinity RACE thread -- Indy

Glad Byron won and the racing was better than expected but I wasn't too impressed overall.

I'd be curious to see what it's like without the horse power reduction from the plates. Seems like that would cut down on the leaders advantage but put more of the race in the hands of the driver.

quit hating on Bowman.Byron will be in cup in the future prob in the 5 when they kick kahne out.

Byron is just better, can't help that. Think Bowman is a decent driver but he's nowhere near as talented as Byron. As I've said I feel like Bowman is just a younger Kasey Khane type driver for HMS.

Byron wants another year in Xfinity, too.

Give it to him if he feels as if he's not ready, that's maturity in itself. He's a neck of a talent, but give him him more time if he wants it.

They didn't choose anyone over him. He'll be in the 5 whenever they decide to move him up

Needs to be up asap. Kid is to talented to stay in Xfinity another year. Still think Kasey will be in the 5 for 2018 though.

Be cheaper too because you dont have to buy Kasey out of his contract.

I agree.

Rick learned from the mistakes of Mears and Vickers, it does not hurt to be patient. Look how good Chase is already after giving him an extra year in Xfinity.

Bowman has spent the majority of his career in start and park quality cars. Byron got a top of the line ride right off the bat.

The comparison cant be made.

I've seen them both race for Jr Motorsports and Byron is the better of the 2. Bowman has done well with the smaller teams and had minimum success in the 88 filling in but I still don't think he's a HMS caliber driver, and that's from driving ability and personality standpoint

OK, guy.

I think it's safe to say we just saw the birth of a completely new type of NASCAR racing. Put this package on the cup cars at indy and pocono next year.

so with the 18 in your avatar, you think Bowman has a personality problem? what? he needs to be more of a psycho?:p

The build up of the new aero injected with all the
excitement of Burton and Letarte , well , fell flat imo.
They got 3 wide a few times but quickly fell back in to
a single file parade that Indy is best known for.

The post race show says the new package was a total success.

I just get tired of being fed a steady diet of BS from TV.

You disagree? Bowman just doesn't seem like a HMS type to me. His personality reminds me of more of Kyle Busch type with some of the post race interviews I've seen from him.

I'm not doing either. We just dont know to make calls prematurely.

Byron seems to have tons of potential, of that there is no doubt. But we cant say for sure what will become of him years from now or how he'll compare to others.

Did you see Jimmie's stint in the Busch series? What were your thoughts about him then?

That was pretty close to the best Xfinity race all year, second was when Byron got beat by Hamlin in a cheated up car. I thought he had him.

Byron himself had said he wants one more year in Xfinity before he thinks about moving to Cup.

Just enjoy the race and stop looking for dents on everything. You'll be much happier. I know this from experience.
Im totally happy :)

Just doesnt feel right to give an aero advantage to the trailing car. It puts the better driver with the better car at a disadvantage. I find that counterintuitive to racing.
