Allmendinger is a former Cup driver, and a marginal one overall who excels on road courses. It's not at all comparable to a current elite Cup driver.

He’s still a better talent than anyone of the Xfinity drivers and 10x moreso on road courses. Atleast in the cup series he had to compete with comparable talent and was still viewed as an underdog.
