Johanna Long

I think of Johanna had some quality equipment and a well funded team she could've done good. IMO she did really good with the equipment she had. It's a shame nobody like RCR or TSM could've put her in for at least a couple races. I think she can win races if given the right ride.
 
Not giving Johanna a chance is what really pisses me off about Roush, Ganassi, Penske, Childress and especially Hendrick. With the money and resources each one has it would be easy to put her in top equipment in the NNS and see what she can do in good equipment. She deserves a shot at it with a good Crew Chief, team, advisers and mentors to see what she can really do.

Im pretty sure Penske, Hendrick, Roush, Ganassi etc don't take money out of their own pockets to put drivers in their vehicles.. It has nothing to do with the fact that none of them will give her a chance... she probably just cant get the sponsors... just like most drivers she would need to out perform her equipment to get noticed and get sponsors interested therefore getting bigger name teams interested. It's unfortunate but it is what it is.

My point is that Johanna Long is quite a bit bigger than Danica. That's NOT a bad thing. She's an athlete. Athletic women aren't supposed to be 110 pounds. They are supposed to have a bigger build, more muscle and so on.

If strength doesn't matter, why does Jimmie Johnson run marathons? Why do drivers have strict fitness regimens?

As for "pretty", Johanna is a beautiful young woman. Not going to let the Matthews of the world get away with criticizing women's looks.

I thought this at first too, and I even remember some people in the sport and in Indy that were upset with danicas short stature and that her cars were too light and some wanted to weigh her car down extra.

Mark Martin is a small guy too, and he is strong, so is Bruce Lee, etc etc. You dont need mass to be strong.

Not disagreeing with you , but I always thought the big thing was endurance .Especially in the hot weather .
 
You know what? I'm not done. I see people saying Samantha Busch is too skinny and that she's not attractive along with the other statements people with keyboards that never met her have made. Fact is, many of you have never met these characters. Opinions are great. My opinion is that there are a bunch of keyboard warriors that should show us their wives and girlfriends since they're so much better.

They do back some drivers as primary sponsors themselves as in Hendrickcars.com that he has put on a lot of cars and many others. It's not necessarily money out of their own pockets but a business advertisement investment. It's taking a small chance for a possible huge return on their investment. They all have development drivers that they back without outside sponsorship money.

Women in racing have always gotten a rough deal . It's a male dominated sport . It's never gonna change .

Simona from Indy car is another example of a female race car driver that catches a lot of flak about her looks. I never understood why

Johanna Long returns to NASCAR this season

Johanna Long calls 2014 “an eye-opener.”

After two years racing alongside some of the biggest names in NASCAR, the Pensacola native suddenly found herself without a sponsor or a racing team as ML Motorsports went under.

Now she is coming back.

Mike Affarano Motorsports announced Long’s return to NASCAR for the 2015 season via a news release on Wednesday, saying, “Long will compete with the team in select NASCAR Xfinity and Camping World Truck Series events in 2015.”

It is an experience Long has every intention of making the most of.

“I am so grateful for this opportunity,” Long said when reached by phone. “I’m excited about it. I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been in my life: Mentally, spiritually and physically.

“My mindset is that I’m hungry. I’ve got to prove to myself that I belong there. I know that I belong there, but I have to prove it, not just to myself, but by showing other people and getting people to believe in me again.

She has to work on being more marketable and she told me that when I was in Alabama (that's for Johali:D) in 2013. I imagine it's something she's actively been working on.
