Carl Edwards retires

I didn't actually know any of that about Carl's past. But you hit the nail on the head here.

What you said here definitely explains the very close relationship he has with his mother. She probably was his rock

It probably explains his fustration with Brad as well. Brad and Carl were friends and Brad looked up to him before their careers took off. The dynamics of that relationship probably reflected what he missed with his father. So he and Brad getting into on the track probably triggered whatever anger was surpressed from a key developmental relationship he didnt have.

Huh, thank you..learn something new every day :)
Carl's dad is involved. Carl SR got Carl into racing..

I don't know why it's so hard for some people to Fathom that when you're sick and tired of doing the same thing even though to all of us it's probably a dream job it's still tiring and still exhausting you're still missing a ton of time with your family and when you're only 37 and may seem weird but still young enough for he can do whatever he wants spend time with his kids and retire because he's multi-millionaire. Trust me if I was a multi-millionaire I could definitely keep myself very busy with many hobbies. This has nothing to do with TV nothing to do with illness just simply a tired man walking away on his own terms. now would I be surprised to see Carl come back in maybe two three years and do it two or three year stint...no. or come back and do TV absolutely not. but for now he's going to live his life how he wants to. I think people need to get used to drivers retiring earlier now because the demand is much more than it was 20 to 30 to 40 years ago drivers are not only drivers anymore they are spokespeople they're doing appearances they're marketing tools they are on high demand all year long it's not like it used to be. Excuse the grammar and the spelling of some words possibly this is off of voice text

Exactly, I mean how many of us just want to make enough money that we don't have to work and can be with our families more. He's made all of the money you could want. I'll miss watching him, but I'm not going to blame a guy for wanting to be with his two young kids.

Okay, I got confused somewhere. What does "winning a championship from JJ" mean? What the heck does Johnson have to do with this?

I already hate myself for asking.

Don't feel bad Charlie, I come here to get away from myself. :D

JJ was on a roll and not even Jeff Gordon could dethrone him. Wasn't Brad the next driver to win a championship other than JJ? Who could predict that? Carl was at the top of his game, Denny was one race away from being champion. Penski winning in a Dodge no less?
and Miller finally found someone who could pretend he liked their beer. LOL

My brother in law said he read something online that Edwards is sitting this year out and then intends to build a team with Ford next year.
As good a guess as any I guess.

Heck, I've read that he's going to start a Dodge Team, be on Fox Sports, NBC, & Live with Kelly. I've even read he's also going to run for political office. It seems like he's got a lot on his plate once he hangs up the steering wheel. It may be tough for him to get time with his family.

:D:D

He's going to announce this morning that he has officially joined on as the new Olympics gymnast coach.

The vid isn't working so far. May not have started yet

Fkn nascar.com

Why do I bother? lol

Still can't believe this is really happening. Unfortunately I'm stuck at work so hopefully I'll be able to find a full video of this later.

To think, you can watch a few select races from last year and have 4 drivers who won't be racing this season.(Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Carl Edwards, and the living legend Brian Scott)

He has been asked about family several times now and he deflects. He has not said the word family once. That bugs me for some reason.
