2017 IndyCar Stuff

This is kinda interesting, but I don't think he has much potential. Made very little progress in 3 years in the German F3, made no progress in 3 years in GP2, then finished 7th out of 13 full-time drivers last year in Formula V8 3.5.
He currently is second out of 12 drivers in the Formula V8 3.5 standings, but most of the other drivers aren't potential F1 champions as well.
Never heard of him, then I looked him up and figured out why. Every series needs backmarkers though and if he brings a team money and isn't a danger that's cool.

IndyCar to sit down with title sponsor Verizon for renewal talks

IndyCar CEO Mark Miles said renewal talks with title sponsor Verizon will begin soon, about 18 months from the end of the deal’s term.

Verizon’s deal is worth about $10 million annually and expires at the end of 2018. It’s common for properties to be informed of a title sponsor’s future plans well in advance of a deal’s end date, given the length of time it can take to find a replacement.

Look at Fifth Third ramping up the motor racing marketing . We appreciate it. That reminds
me, I need to get a die cast of Ricky's 5th3rd car he got his first win at Talladega in.
I like to get those if I was in attendance. Looking forward to a bunch of road racing this weekend.

Oh crap, I guess the Indy boys are off this weekend. IMSA and NASCAR are the road racers this weekend.

I'm hoping they get enough sponsors for Servia for a full-time seat.

Looks like neither of us will use it. I went to his house yesterday to see if he wanted to go. He told me he threw it in the trash Friday. They have sent him a ticket every year for the past five years. This is the first time he hasn't waited until after the race, to throw it away. Unbelievable.

Dude...that's so lame.

Really happy to see Jack Harvey get a shot.

Starting to warm up to Guttierz too. He really wants to be here. He's probably out of work next year unless Coyne expands to three cars.

He has money behind him, he probably has enough for a third Coyne car. He just cannot crumple too many chassis.

Ooops. Guitterez out of work already. Sorry to see that but glad Bourdais healed up so quickly.

He will be on Dale's radar, Gutierrez has money and that is something Dale values a lot of. Just the fact that he's a capable driver as well, I'd like to see him get a full-time ride. He was improving through the Pocono race, just got sideways and tapped the wall top hard.

The plan all along was to run a third car for Bourdais at Sonoma, but Sebastian came back sooner than Coyne was ready for. They may still have that third car available for Guitterez at Sonoma, but he's out at least for this weekend.

Personally I would have rather seen Bourdias wait until next year and take the time to fully heal up. The fact he's coming back on an oval proves he's got some stones.

I don't think Gutierrez is a huge loss for IndyCar,

I didn't think so either until he started saying how much he loved being here and how many good things he had to say about the series. That's the kind of guy you want in the series.

t also looked like he was starting to figure it out and was really flying at Pocono. If we are going to race in Mexico, we are probably going to need a good Mexican driver in the field, and he's the best available.

but didn't Dale Coyne say he'd enter a 3rd car if Bourdais returned before the end of the season?

That was the plan, but the target for his return was for Sonoma. Bourdais is coming back three races sooner than they were ready for, so they probably don't have everything in place yet. Estaban got shuffled out for now, but even if Coyne has nothing for him next year any decent driver that can bring a check will find a drive somewhere in the series, and he reportedly brings a pretty fat check.

I would expect Coyne will have three cars in Sonoma simply to get one last payday out of the aerokits. Expect to hear rumors about Esteban in the second SPM car (a shame we are losing Aleshin) next year, or even talk about him being in one of Mikey's cars.
