2018 Atlanta - Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 - Pre Race Thread

Looks like Kyle has the long race pace to beat with Harvick, and Logano (that's impressive on a long stint).

RCR looks really strong, Larson does as well. Tomorrow or Monday are going to be fun to watch, but I think Kyle will be the man to beat.
 
Practice is tough. I look for the usual mile and a halfers to make noise.

Larson, KB, Truex, Hamlin and JJ will all be pretty good

Glad the Daytona wreckfest is over, looking forward to how the new Chevys look at a mile and a half track.
 
It looks like there might be a window between about 3 and 7 to get some racing in when the chance goes down to 30% but with the worn surface and weepers, I don't see this happening till tomorrow night
 
Say, whatever happened to webcams that would show live activity from the garage area, behind pit road, etc? At one point it seemed every track offered feeds on race weekend, then they just seemed to disappear.

I've been complaining about that for many years now. I loved those live cams. A lot of us complained to Nascar when they first disappeared and they brought them back.. for one season.

They were a great way to see when the teams were seriously getting ready to get back on the track after a rain delay. Much better than the network shills attempting to convince us 'track drying will be finished shortly.'

I would get up early and check the cams on race day for the weather. I also loved watched the haulers parking.

In jeopardy? There's an understatement. Ain't gonna happen, Bob; no way, no how. That band of rain keeps getting wider, with enough gaps in it to tease the track dryers before resuming.

For the sake of the folks that are there, I hope it pushes through quickly enough that the race can be run this evening. Their biggest inconvenience now is having to hang out in the lot, waiting for the official postponement announcement.

I imagine not going to the track this morning was an easy decision. It's certainly the one I would have made (and have made in similar circumstances).

I agree with you regarding yesterday. I'm not sure why you think they'd let an illegal car through this morning when they wouldn't for Q.

Yeah it's rough. Not sure I can stay for tomorrow yet but we'll see. At least they do the weather guarantee. Only bad part is that money you spend on the hotel.

His car was damn near perfect for every track it didn’t matter where it was... do u think he was just that better of a driver than anyone else in the field at every damn track??

No, you posted "cheated up car" in response to the #78 making it through tech this morning. That's today, not last year.

But if you're still hung up on last year, that's your decision. Usually it's us old people who get stuck in the past.
 
What pisses me off about TRUEX is that he walks around now like he wins god now.. I guess y’all don’t listen to him on the radio? He complains more than Kyle Busch but y’all call Busch a crybaby smh.. all he does is talk about the low budget teams like they don’t belong.. screaming get out his way they can’t drive or there car is to slow! It’s just funny how y’all look the other way when it comes to TRUEX.. guess he don’t remember he use to be one of those guys.. he just won sweetheart from the Daytona race talking about the slower cars.. I see right through him.. he doesn’t have me fooled like he got 90% of the people

I don't listen to any of them on the radio, on pre- or post-race shows, on social media, etc. The only thing I care about is what they do on the track.

Boy, we're in rain delay mode already. :p
