NASCAR HEAT 3

Ok, maybe someone can explain this to me, but this video shows my biggest grip with this game right off the bat: Not being able to make a basic turn without scorching the tires and damn near spinning out, or spinning out instantly. Is it set up? Something else? I purchased NH1 and tinkered around with setups and such and could never find a way around this so I stopped playing it. I didn't even consider purchasing NH2 because the first one was literally unplayable. And those god awful screeching sound effects...barf.

That car looks extremely loose throw some wedge into it and put some air pressure into the tires. I’m actually thinking of buying this game after work today. On the fence, I can’t find any reviews on it. I have Heat 2...it’s nothing special just a game. I played one season on it and got tired of the sketchy handling on the cars. And there’s still no damn track map it looks like.

I’ve been racing in a couple heat 2 online leagues. You’re a second off the pace if you aren’t at a 45 wedge and like 40psi in the right side tires. Basically spinning out the whole time but it is a blast with 20 people all quick as hell.

What you do is turn the assists off, and you can actually gas it to straighten out on corner entry. Completely bassackwards but it works

The dirt late models are the best thing is this game. I've been playing it for a couple hours or so, and they actually are kinda fun, and with some tweaking could be really fun.

is the game better than last year's? I am about to go buy it in a few here and trade in Heat 2

It's ok I guess. I had a bunch of games I wasn't playing so just traded them in for it to give it a try. It still feels like NASCAR heat 2 to me, maybe like a 2.5 lol. I could see these guys doing a better job at a short track game, the dirt tracks actually look pretty good.

I'm considering buying this but I didn't like the last one at all.. do the cars handle anything like they did in NTG 15? The last one just turned me off with how as soon asas you touch the brakes your sliding the tires and damn near impossible to run consistently it's like if u tap the brakes the driver floors the brake pedal and if u don't ur up the track being passed by the whole field.

The random excessive oversteer is still there

*walks upstairs*

So, yeah, I think I'm gonna buy this game. No, the graphics aren't amazing, and the car sounds aren't great, but I ran a couple of quick races at Charlotte and did some practice at Road America, and it's actually pretty fun. I've been looking for something more on the arcade side for those times when I need a break from the likes of Assetto Corsa, Project Cars 2, and Gran Turismo Sport.

It's on sale right now on the PS Store for $30. That sounds like a fair price to me. I don't think I'll get any of the paint scheme packs since I haven't been following NASCAR, but we'll see what happens.

Nascar Heat 4 is lookin pretty good guys. I might be in on this one, plus that sweet Gordon collectors edition is calling me. The engine noise changes alone are a huuuge upgrade.

Im really still not sold. There was a clip where the player was driving as Harvick and he was already spinning when another car hit him in the rear and did not effect him. Also in the same clip he was under the apron when the caution came out and the computer shot him back into the “racing line” for the pace laps so bad that it put him in the wall.

Its small stuff like that, which was fixed on most racing games by the time the original Xbone came out, that screams no for me. Its still a game developed on a mobile engine being sold as a next gen console game for $50. No thanks.

The day to night transition happens over a stage break caution, lmao what a cop out.

I’m sorry, I’m just so over the “its a small developer give them time” excuse thats passed around. This is their 4th release that has been a full price charge. IMO baby steps have been taken when they should be leaps and bounds beyond where they started.

It’s a joke NASCAR Thunder 04 is still better than any of these NASCAR Heat games.

Had Heat 3 and was entertained for a bit but it gets boring really quick. You getting taken for a ride if you spend 50 dollars on this game as its not worth it. Would rather load back up NR2003 or Thunder 2003 or 2004, endless fun there.

I really like nascar 14 & 15 honestly. I’d really say 15 now, because they atleast fixed the sound glitch that plagued 14 after its last update years ago.

It was not perfect, but few games are. Once you get use to the AI I find the game fun. What really helps that game out is the paint booth. You can get fairly detailed with the cars to create what you want.

I’m not into using the generic designs and numbers at all. I find those setups to plague a racing game more than other issues.

Hell the plate racing on nascar 14 and 15 is honestly just like the last restrictor plate race we watched in Daytona, back in July.

For a console nascar game. I think it covers majority of what I expect.

If I want real sim racing, I’d go back to the PC and use the obvious platforms for that.... BUT, that is a different level of commitment that I don’t have the time for right now.

I bought Heat 4, arrived yesterday because I’am an idiot, and paid 60 bucks because Jeff Gordon is on the gold edition cover. Then...the downloadable content that was a part of of the $60 I paid for the game wasn’t working so that annoyed me heavily. But other than that....from the little racing I did yesterday seems the racing AI, handling of your car and just overall experience is Night and Day better than 3. The dirt racing is still damn cool. They’re getting there but man I still love Nascar Thunder 04 (IMO its The GOAT) the small little details that game had makes the game still so enjoyable (Custom schedules, Every track had a night race if you so desired, I was racing Martinsville at night in my college dorm...in 03, Rovals for some tracks before Rovals were in..the Homestead Miami Roval was legit, multiple championship seasons with your favorite driver that kept stats not only for you but your competitors which was damn cool) But the Heat People are getting there, it’s just I wish they’d get there faster.

I forget if 04 is the one where people actually retire and you get there ride or if that’s a few years later but whichever that one is, is my favorite one. Remember getting the 24 when Jeff retired in the game and had a season you can only have in a game lol. Won the first 26 races.

I watched a lot of the video @AdoubleU24 posted above, and it looks like a pretty dramatic improvement from the last few games. I'll probably buy it

I didn't even know that Heat 4 was about to come out until the other day. I immediately went to YouTube to see if there were any gameplay videos, and I was really impressed with the sound of the cars.

I actually really liked Heat 3, and folks were saying that Heat 4 was an improvement on that game, so I pre-ordered the standard edition on PSN late last night. I just did a quick race at Charlotte (the same track I raced first on Heat 3) on the Expert preset, but with the AI level turned down slightly and no aids/assists. It was a blast. Hearing that engine roar as I left the pits and went up through the gears immediately put a huge smile on my face.

The car is much more challenging to drive once the tires start wearing out than it was in Heat 3, and with the default setup and 4x tire wear, I started using up the right rear pretty quickly. I love it. That only happened in Heat 3 when I used the absolute loosest default setups.

For the time being, when I'm not playing Persona 5 or Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight, I'll be playing this. No regrets whatsoever on the purchase.

I've really enjoyed Heat 4. What I do like, in career that now your name is actually on the back of the car. So I can't wait to take over the #1 Car when I get to Cup, cause I love that badass Monster Car, and since my name can be on it now, oh you bet your sweet ass I'm going to drive it.

3 is a broken game. Running a race at Richmond, get wrecked going into 3, slide into pits.. penalty. Lol

That’s is literally the same damn reason I shelved the game. Just utter crap, so frustrating!

Right?! It’s the little details like that, that can make any type of game so enjoyable to play and damn cool at the same time

Is it really that much better than 3?

I just picked up NH4, have only played it for 30 minutes or so but so far I think it’s a big improvement over the previous NASCAR Heat games. This is more than just a cut and paste job from NH3.

One thing I’m glad they finally added is a track map that shows you who the leader is and where you are in relation to them. In the previous Heat games, if you were more than a second or two behind the leader and running worse than 4th, you had no idea who the leader was.

Yea you should pick it up. The actual dynamics of the handling of the cars during racing is wayyyyy better than last year.

Agree., plus I like it for knowing when the lap traffic is coming. Sometimes I need it to help get to the leader lol. Not needed lap traffic in 4 yet tho. But I’m sure a race will come where I do. So it will be nice to know when we’re creeping up on them so I can get my help lol.

I just had one hell of a race at Iowa, ran the leaders down to win stage 2, but then ended up 3rd in the race.

Raphaël Lessard won the race, and has earned a playoff spot, but he better have some great races from now til they start, cause he's 20th in points so he's almost where his win wouldn't help him out at all.

I downloaded 3 a month ago. Started a career and am 4 years into my cup career. Typed out a spreadsheet and are tracking season long statistics and car wins for everyone. (KB is a 2x champ, 70 wins right now. Chris Bell replaced Truex in 2019, 19 career wins).. and want to have a full career before getting 4 lol

Wait....what?

Yea I don’t remember drivers retiring in Heat 3 and then getting replaced but then I didn’t get that far in career mode
Lol no they didn't. It's my own fantasy series. I wanted to put some up and comers in the cup series, so it was totally make believe.

Even though I’m still racing Nascar 15, and liking it.

I’ve watched many of people’s Heat 4 videos they’ve put online... visually there seems to be a nice improvement in the gameplay... just from watching. The last couple years I wasn’t really that impressed after seeing some videos of heat 2, 3...

Watching some videos it does visually look better, but not IMO like a console game. Still looks like a high budget mobile game (which is what the unity platform is).

Still looks like the AI difficulty is way easy though. Every time I watch someone pass like 9 cars going 3 wide on the back stretch I cringe.

I mean I had a problem catching the leader in a truck race. Only time I ever easily pass people like that on there is when I got fresher tires, then I can easily get by people. But when we’re all equal, it’s a battle.

AI is indeed still too easy even on 105 difficulty setting
