What Do you Think of the New Package?

:XXROFL:

Nobody wings it more than Nascar.

At least recently,It seems like leadership is sorely lacking and direction is aimless They need to get the Gen 7 car right or people will have a reason to be angry. They screwed up with the COT and really haven’t done much right since. I lost faith in their judgement after that fiasco. If you add up their failures since then they are endless.

Jim France hasn’t done anything to restore my faith in Nascar leadership.

Sliding and spinning cause more tire wear, these cars have more down force and less horsepower, thus less wear.
No?

yep pretty much. sideforce is almost impossible to figure when it gets right down to it. The coefficient of friction is a variable that changes with track temp, tire wear, variable tire pressures AND heat. Then throw in the banking angle along with the outside temp and it is almost impossible to figure, so Goodyear uses cast iron tires. Cheap and easy. They have been phoning it in for awhile, last year we were supposed to see tire fall off also. They use multiple types of rubber in the side wall and different types in the tread. They talk about better grip tread design and fall off but it doesn't happen.

Not sure about you guys but that was the most enjoyable race this season.

Chalk that up as a W for the new package.

We ran the numbers and for the first time this season NASCAR's 2019 aero package had a significant increase in on-track passing. *green flag pit stops aided these numbers but not enough to skew the overall result* #NASCAR

I sure miss the 2018 rules as this form of racing is sorely lacking from where I sit. JMO.

Average green flag run:

2019 - 50.8 laps
2018 - 31.8 laps
2017 - 33.2 laps

Loop data should be outright banned if isn't going to be interpreted properly. Something about lies, damned lies, and statistics. Not enough to skew the overall result.

“There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.”

I love that quote and also something about liars figuring!

Facts are usually good ammunition in a debate against opponents with false logic.

Would you also qualify as a hater for loathing the racing last year?
you trying to put words in my mouth that I never said now? You go ahead and complain about the racing all ya want, makes me no never mind, I would watch something else myself.

You have consistently made comments that have alluded to your dislike of last year's racing. Don't call me a hater because we have differing opinions on what makes for good racing.

Did steve even watch the race? The fastest car finished 10th. Hell, even Bowyer was running Hamlin down lap by lap. Guy is a complete tool.

Steve is obviously in the camp of “closer cars = better racing” and that’s how a neanderthal would define it as well.

But hey, we got 2nd and 3rd place in the TV shot.

don't believe I called ya one..can ya find where I called you one?

I thought the racing could be better and it proves to be so, you and others don't like it? that's your problem. And like I said, it is going to be a long year for the haters

The way I saw it was if the leader so much as made a sleight mistake or got held up by a lapper, 2nd 3rd, or sometimes even 4th place would be all over him. And that happened quite a few times today, so yeah the leader has the advantage, but not like being 4 or 5 seconds out front and managing the gap. I think that will get closer as the teams get better with the setups.

Does anyone actually know what constitutes a pass when it comes to tallying it on the stat sheet? Does simply nosing out in front of someone equal a pass? Cause when you're watching the race, the ticker does update when this happens, you really notice it at the plate tracks. This package caused a lot of this yesterday, a lot of seesawing back and forth for position without the spot completely changing hands. I am asking this for a reason...

I'd say so far this package has been above average on repaved tracks or tracks without a ton of tire wear & below average on tracks with tire wear and less aero.

No one is putting words in your mouth. I don’t think you are a hater because you like the playoffs, current qualifying format or the current rules. Those things are your preference just like my preference what I saw in 2018 over this year.

Just because the 18 was the fastest car doesn't mean he was supposed to win. Kyle choked a possible win away by overdriving the exit of 2. Period.

Depends on how many timing loops a track has but it's a matter of simply changing position between each loop on the track - so you could be side-by-side with a car for a lap and nose ahead of each other over the course of the lap and change 'position' several times. Most elsewhere I see 'pass' counters they only tally at the end of the lap but it's also hard to put timing loops around race tracks, especially non-ovals. Some series only ever score at the line even.

That said, given that it's all done electronically the majority of passing comes under pit cycles, where it's very easy for someone to change position a net of 60 times over a cycle...there are a lot of things loop data is good for but passing statistics should be taken with a grain of salt for the most part, or at least taken in context with those other factors. Restarts are also a big inflator of 'passes'.

Can Goodyear make softer-tires with some sort of falloff?

The super-ultra hard compound yesterday and tires had ZERO falloff. NASCAR should have some words with Goodyear engineers.
