Ryan Blaney

Joey is a true racer once the aces start and the car he likes is not what Brad drives. (Like Gordon and JJ) Blaney is still trying to find his own grove and I believe they experiment a lot more trying to find "his car". Many times he ends up using Joey's setup.
And many times he ends up being faster than Joey.

Luck is fickle. Speed and talent are not.
I agree but better strike while the iron is hot (no idea what that really means btw). Penske is fast this year. He better change that luck soon. Don’t know how long you are driving one of the fastest horses...

ETA...looked it up. Comes from blacksmithing....makes sense now.

"Too many irons in the fire" That one comes from hog scalding...….. But I digress...….
Go Blaney!

Hoping Blaney gets his Star Wars onesie delivered today, so he can sleep well tonight.

Roger Penske has seen it all...

I have watched this Blaney dude from the get go in late models. Early on he had luck on his side more than his fair share. It is just evening out now. His dad had to be one of the unluckiest racers in NASCAR. I can't imagine Ryan would even come close to what all happened to his dad.
The kid is good and I really think he will develop into a consistent title contender soon.

I agree, just has to learn a little patience when the car is not right.

I'm not so sure that I have seen that this year. I know he scraped the wall in a cutoff race last year, but it was GO time. He was pretty hard on himself after that one. I think he learned.

IDK, perhaps he would respond and perform better if his crew chief dressed up like Yoda and spoke to him in Yoda's odd manner...

LOL.
Isn't there a Joey thread where all the Joeyetts can get together and whine about McDowell?

IMO, these days with the "books" the established teams have with car development, the old hand drivers with years of racing experience have a large edge on the younger guys. The drivers know all of the spots you don't want to be in at the tracks, more restart experience. The teams know where you can pick up speed depending on track conditions. A whole lot to learn for the new guys. Blaney and Elliott are ranked in the top 10 at present. It is nonsense to say either needs to win to keep their jobs. Both are the future of the sport.

Blaney would rather fight his teammates than win races. Spoiled brat dives away from Brad to get to the low line, gets shut out and comes back up -- and Brad with a run tries to drive around him.

Then YRB throws a radio conniption..,

The only times I saw Blaney today was when he was getting shuffled to the back. He must have passed 200 cars. Made a few good saves, though.

You must mean when Joey McDowell could have made it a 1 2 3 Penske train but instead hung Ryan and Brad out???

Chase has been impatient on the plate tracks in the past, one time it was battling for the lead with Blaney in Brad in the 500 very early on and we all know how that ended. You guys are being a tad harsh imo, he's had a good season so far. I'm sure it's frustrating seeing your teammates win multiple races, it adds some pressure to break through. I certainly wouldn't hold yesterday against him though, you can only grade someone so much in that sort of environment with all of the chaos that goes on. Split second decisions can make you look like a jerk or a hero and really all you're trying to do is keep momentum or move forward a few feet to keep from dropping 20+ positions.

Tough day for Blaney for sure yesterday. He may have passed more cars than anyone. But, he also might have made more mistakes than anyone. Reminded me of JR. years back at Martinsville where he could do nothing right...and then a few years later he wins there.

I'm sure he's sleeping in the Yoda bungalow in his backyard, for inspiration. He might have a 12 pack stashed in there with him.

Sure hope his luck and demeanor change soon. He could reel off some wins if he can.

Ryan is a huge Star Wars fan.

The way he won the roval last year, that has to be the luckiest wins in recent memory.

Did you know that Dale Jr is an avid Elvis Presley memorabilia collector? No wonder he never lived up to his last name!

Already won here :whoopee:

That win alone negates the ridiculous criticism of the dude.

Also, he ran pretty well this weekend. Got ****** over on a couple restarts and berated his spotter for not letting him know when Larson was jumping to the inside on the final(I think) restart.. but yeah, still 9th in points chillin exactly where he was before Pocono.

I just realized a person up there is impressed by Logano(according to page 2) but ashamed of the current young group.. Hes so quick to forget the early part of his career. If venti was here in 2012 he would have been calling for Joey to have his drivers license revoked. Smh.

Logano in the 20 was struggle city. The switch was flipped the moment he climbed into the 22. Not sure I've ever seen anything quite like that, him and HamBone went at it hard, and standing up to Harvick.

Yeah pretty much does imo too. He almost had one at Phoenix. Probably his strongest showing of 19'.
