The Food thread

It is kind of funny how perspective is changed with camera location as compared to the subject. The picture makes it look like it was a cup of chili. Trust me, it was anything but. It fed the three of us with enough leftovers for us to sit down together for a few more meals. If you look over the top of that pot, there's a full size spatula along with a teaspoon sitting on a large paper plate.
Yep. :D

Copper River Salmon and some Wagyu bavettes... I'm not a salmon fan, but if you haven't tried the Copper River stuff you should.

I love salmon.
Skin down on a grill sometimes leaves the skin behind if you don’t oil the grill and the skin. I prefer a grill basket for fish.

I cleaned it really well and oil'd it before putting them on. I was a bit worried, but they came up easily. Just used Kosher salt, black pepper, and olive oil on the salmon. Really amazing.

This thread is some damn good stuff when you're bored on an overnight shift. Those meat pies at the beginning of the thread sound good right now.

Going to Sonoma and wish I could find some good food in the Bay area/East Bay.

Burgers tonight. This was the side dish:

Homemade kettle chips with blue cheese sauce and balsamic glaze. Think I posted a version of this in this thread before but this looks a lot nicer :D

Looks great. Never really heard of that before (?) but it looks good.

I bought some spice rub for a tri-tip a week or so ago. It turned out too salty because I used too much of the rub.
I sent an email to the company stating my disappointment.
They really stepped up with the customer service and sent me some of their salt free blend and a smaller container of their Blue Label seasoning.
The salt free blend is 24ozs valued at $19 on their website. You don’t often see that kind of customer service these days.

On vacation for a week. Only a few days left. Every meal is cooked over the campfire. Today's meal includes these stuffed hot peppers that came from our garden. The bacon? Who knows where it came from but bacon is always good so it doesn't matter...

I don't understand chicken n waffles at all but that looks solid.

Not a big waffle fan either, but the best waffles I’ve ever had were a recipe from the World’s Fair 1964. Simply amazing.

Steak smothered with cream cheese. Cream cheese is a great no carb topping.

I put this in the chat room but am putting it here also as it is about food as well.
My wife and I had Thanksgiving day dinner in the woods, it was great. Boned Turkey cooked on the grill, green bean casserole, giblet gravy, yellow rice and minnie pecan pies for desert.
I have been at camp for 9 days hunting and it gets better every day.

Picture please

LOL , my picture may turn you against it. I just started cooking this year after breaking 5 ribs. I never took the time to learn much before, I am a work in progress on the cooking.
Anyhow I have got cream cheese smothered steaks from Longhorns before, and I thought I would try give it a try.

I cooked it medium rare and pasted the top with cheese while finishing up to medium.
I used to much oil, but the steak was delicious.
Canola oil is also a good healthy fat.
It tasted better than it looks.
