The Attendance Thread

Nice crowd at the Glen. Nascar nation likes its road course racing.
Michigan crowd will be interesting. It can be a boring track. Might be a thin crowd.

Adam Stern said in one of his posts around 50,000 showed up to Watkins Glen.

Michigan's capacity is 56,000. It's like half full. Place doesn't deserve two races.

Headed to Bristol again this year. Was going to pass up on it but had too much fun last year seeing KB41 take the checkered. Hoping this race will be as good as that one was.

Bristol crowd slowly coming back !

Looks about the new norm for the night race. Still lots of empty seats; especially high up along the straights. It's obvious the cheaper seats are in the turns. I still think the whole "last great coliseum" thing is a joke. They could easily shoe it and lose 30-40k seats imo. As it is, tonight's crowd would probably equal or surpass say the 1995 one that saw Sr vs Labonte I....

Capacity is apparently 162,000 however the banners high in the turns hide a few thousand seats. Even at 150k this crowd is easily over 100k and 2-3 times what a normal crowd is at any other track. Definitely more full than last year as well. I agree they should knock down one end and start selling the place out again for the night race.

It definitely looks good on tv now that it's gotten dark. It looks like "the place to be" which is want we all want! Crowd is definitely sniffing the magical 100k imo. The attendance for this race, the Daytona 500, Talladega and The Glen seem on another level relative to the other events so far this year.

If Bristol lowered their prices I'd be there. I get they consider it a destination track/race (still) but their prices are steep. I can go to both Martinsville races (great seats) for 1 Bristol race (ok seats).

Watching this almost makes wish Bristol had one race and this is it. The spring race relative to THIS is like a D3 football game vs Alabama-Auburn. The whole thing has more juice when the lights are on and the seats are (reasonably) full! The atmosphere really translate!

It's funny if you ask cup drivers most of them say they think the day race puts on a better show. That's what Ricky Stenhouse said yesterday while he was being interviewed during qualifying. And I disagree 110%. The night race is really good now the past few years. I'm booking the same tickets for next year we had really good seats. Never really had bad seats before but these were my favorite of the places we have sat before.

Where was your seats? I’ve had seats in Pearson terrace for years and I love them.

Atmosphere certainly does matter.

@Head423 The Allisons row 51 just past the start/finish line a little. I always like being near the start finish but really I don't think there's a such thing as bad seats in Bristol.

I get they want to make this a playoff race but I hope the move next year doesn't hurt attendance too much. Moving directly against college football season could be tough in that region...UT has a home game that same day I believe. It's hard to balance these things.

Looking over at the seats opposite us over on the back stretch they seemed less crowded. We may go over there next year I dunno. I always pick seats on the isle and whenever we're at a track with empty seats around us I actually consider that a plus. Seats around the start/finish line were all full as far around me that I could see. Guess everyone wants to be there.

We sat , for the last 2 years in the Gordon terrace, Sect.G row 5 seats 22 & 23. .maybe 6 other people in the row. Plenty of room all around us, but fuller than last year. Going in Sept. '20, which should be cooler weather wise. The Prerace pit pass was good, but Hot. Cold pass was a plus.

Watching the Vegas race and notice the red, silver and blue sections don’t look dark. They took every other row and added tables.

Yeah, attendance isn't great because of the weather. Attendance was probably worse last year.

Not too bad of attendance at the roval. Really need to do that weekend some year.

Actually September 2019 was the least amount of people I’ve ever seen at Vegas in a decade, based on the parking lot. We had the same spot all weekend. 25’ from the K-rails and the spray booths.

Looked more than 2018 did.

I'm just going off last years reports of only 45K showing up because of the heat.
I’m going off of what I see. This year was the least amount of people I’ve seen there in a decade. I remember when the stands were packed through 3 and 4.
I’m sure the heat played a part in the low draw. I’m curious how next year’s later date will affect attendance.

I'm sure it'll help a bit.

Yeah I remember going to Trucks in 2006 for the standalone and there was an awesome crowd and in 2007 for Cup there was nearly 160K.

I made the place to be about half full, maybe 60%. There were definitely more people in the grandstands that overlook the infield portions than at the end with the chicane views.

Traffic wasn't a problem getting in at all, in or out. I usually break for the car as soon as the checkers fall, and I had no problem getting out of a private lot 'catty-cornered' from track property/

Seemed like Roval attendance was better last year than this year, is that just me?

I'm usually optimistic and not a deathbed type of guy, but I was kinda disappointed at the attendance in Kansas.

Not sure what changes need to be made.
