Championship Fatigue...

The idea that NASCAR wanted Patrick to succeed is common knowledge and makes common sense.

If the sanctioning body manipulated events for the benefit of the 3 or anybody else, I wonder why they didn't get her a win or two.

They were busy giving Jr a Championship, couldnt fit in Patrick too

not going down that rabbit hole.
Well its a surprise we're not because this thread has played all my favorite songs.... points systems, playoffs, race manipulation, and conspiracy theories.

We all have our opinions. NASCAR turned its back on the South and tried like hell to get the wine and cheese crowd in.
That's the issue. So the sport isn't allowed to have fans outside of the South?

I enjoy watching SASCAR, as do others not from the south..who says it has to be southern? Is it in the acronym? What does it stand far anyway?

Southern Association for Stock Car Auto Racing

****, you have a point, I guess... Oh wait...

It's

NATIONAL Association for Stock Car Auto Racing . Nascar is not conceptually a southern sport. It's just where it started. It is no more a southern sport than the NFL, NBA, etc. That stereotype needs to die.

I’m 65. I’ve been watching this sport for over 5 decades. I was watching during the height of the Pearson Petty rivalry. I watched them new guys Waltrip and Earnhardt enter the fray. I think I have enough history with the sport to express my opinions. I’m not a mindless yes man.
Waltrip and Earnhardt aren't new guys.

The South was the birthplace of NASCAR. NASCAR was formed in the South by southerners. The majority of the drivers were from the South. There was the Alabama Gang, not the PennsylvaniaGang. NASCAR starting taking away race dates from long time tracks. I’m not from the South, I’m from Michigan. I love this sport I just hate what it’s turned into.

I believe that is one of those oxymoron's love the sport, but hate it.:D I'm sounding like the Ft,Worth Dallas guy, but contrary to what some believe, it was the southeast and mainly Florida where the Nascar series started, and then they went of all places north from there and west

NASCAR has been running all over the country since its inception. You just didnt know it because you didnt have the internet to tell you to hate it.

I'll give NASCAR credit with the stages, I haven't recalled many phantom debris cautions in a long ass time since the stages were introduced that I can recall personally.

Never said it was right in the first place did I? I'm just saying you don't see NASCAR throwing fake water bottle cautions because the whole fickle fanbase is bitching about the racing getting strung out.

You gave NASCAR credit for the stages because they make up for the phantom debris cautions. So, that would constitute a "right". Maybe I should have said that a polished turd is still a turd; competition cautions of any sort are detrimental to organic strategy.

Yes, because the fanbase is about as fickle as can be about the racing and especially long green runs so NASCAR threw phantom debris cautions because they were sick of Johnson dominating. You probably won't agree, but I sure think so.

I don't see how the stages are hurting anything to fuel strategy races or anything like that of the like in the Cup Series anyway unless you have a bigger point to be made. I watched a fun fuel mileage race that Tyler Reddick stole the show at Las Vegas just a couple months ago in Xfinity. Trucks are the only series where fuel runs may be effected.

Perhaps it’s time to shake up the playoff system again. I don’t have a solution but do feel that the regular season champion should have a pass to the final four or, the very least, the first couple of rounds of eliminations.
Regular season champion earns a birth in the final 4 for sure.

The stages ARE phantom debris cautions. The difference is they’re telling you now when it’s gonna happen. ;)

The 4 teams that were in the final were the best teas all year long. The stats don't lie. Same thing in the Xfinity Series. No one was bending rules. They were just the best. Do people forget when HMS dominated? They would have had 3 cars in the final. There were times when Roush would have. It's all part of the ebb and flow of sports.

I used to get all wrapped up in all the BS. I never missed a practice and read every article.I subscribed to every in-car subscription and went to several races per year. Half the time I was miserable because my enjoyment of the sport hinged on the fortunes of the 24. I wish I could go back and take it less seriously and allow myself to just enjoy the entertainment of it all. It's such a cool sport in so many ways. The only thing that sucks about it is that the fan base seems to be incapable of every being happy about anything. The fans are what is truly fatiguing.
This reminds me of a jerk fan who kinda took me out of the clouds after we watched our guy win in person.

So NASCAR didnt race up North or MidWest or out West eh? Just in the South? How long did you say you've been watching?
