All star race to bristol

I really really do not like traction compound of any kind on any of the tracks, talk about a gimmick. To me just show up and race the track the way you find it, straight up fair for everyone. :idunno: JMHO

I hope you don’t go to sprint car races then. They literally do this all the time to get a certain kind of racing

I meant on about four square feet to hold the restart cone in place. It was intended as a humorous reply to SOI's tongue-in-cheek question.

Otherwise, I agree completely with your about Stick-Um.

You don't want to walk on an NHRA track then...you will walk right out of your shoes with all of the hairspray they put down. But, if they didn't there wouldn't be a need for 12,000 HP engines. :)

Hell yes. NASCAR has been on it with making the right moves lately.

Not a statement you usually hear, lol.

30k fans, that's what I'm talkin about!

Daytona, I need you to top this in August
They are talking over 50 thousand for Texas the week after Bristol with precautions of course
Two weeks have passed. I wonder if these 2 races will go off as planned regarding attendance?

Off topic but New York, New Jersey and Connecticut just expanded the list of states from which travel is limited to those willing to be in quarantine for 14 days. North Carolina is on that list, potentially affecting the August 16th race at The Glen.

My favorite race. I hope things work out in time.

Have they came up with a name yet? I like The United New England Corona's

I'll be so bummed if they don't the death rate & hospitalization rate has been dropping. Let me throw a mask on and watch some stock cars

Good question.

Up here, we’re looking to add 3 provinces to our list. We’re likin’ Washington, Oregon and California.

Border has been closed for awhile, but like the New England Corona's they let the trucks thru to supply their happy asses. The truckers don't have Corona's I guess.

Transport truck border crossings occur every day in large numbers. In both directions.

Hell yes.

"Choose cones are used for non-NASCAR short track races around the country. During a caution, they allow drivers to choose the lane in which they want to restart. NASCAR only gives that option to the driver in first place; everybody else must restart based on their position, with odd numbers on the inside and even numbers on the outside.

A choose cone rule would eliminate some shenanigans on pit road where drivers try to jostle for position based on the lane in which they want to restart."

I don't get it..... isn't that the same thing they do now?

The part you bolded is explaining the existing rule. The two lines before that explain what's changed. The paragraph could have been constructed better.

Oof looks my reading comprehension was out to lunch yesterday, skipped right over it. Thank ya sir :salute:

Are those stages really even long enough to get going at Bristol? I could go either way

Leave it to NASCAR to screw a good thing up. Those stage lengths just seem to short. But on the other hand at least it is still Bristol and the cone rule. Gotta give them credit for that.

Agreed. Too short of a race. Those 35 lap stages will be over in 9 minutes each.

It should be a barn burner. They won't have time to dilly daddle around with the race format the way it is laid out.

You know that cone is going to be sponsored.

Welcome back to The Geico 400, we're under our 4th QuikTrip caution, the drivers are coming to the Allstate Restart zone and the official have put the AutoZone Cone out on the track!

I say we replace the Geico Restart Zone with a fat guy with a can of spray paint.
LOL... that might be painful to see...
When they did a restart lane choice at Charlotte (back when we were running Legends cars) they would have a guy standing inside the first turn holding up a big sign that said "CHOOSE" - kind-of like a girl at a boxing match who prances around with a sign that shows the round number... but not nearly as cute...

Local tracks I've been to have used a cone with a rope attached to its base. Once the cars get past the restart line, a guy would run out and place the cone in the middle of the track. After all the cars came back around and passed the cone (and picked their lanes) the guy would reel in the cone by using the rope. Thought it might get caught up under a car, but I've never seen that happen.

The all time record for the Busch Clash (in its original format) was 15:10 by Bill Elliott in 1987. I think CBS got ONE short commercial break in during the actual race. Personally, I'm just fine with a short race that makes you go all out every lap.

Yeah, wish the stages were longer. Like to see them have time to race to the front...
