Agreed, and they’re still considering using the “outer” layout at Bahrain which would have them lapping just under a minute so overall a pretty fresh and diverse schedule.
 
What’s the Portugal track layout? I don’t believe I have ever seen it.

This will be an 87-lapper, most laps for an F1 race in decades.
Good to see them trying a different track configuration.

I get it as a branding and marketing exercise, although they’ll have to start making more models than just A110s obviously. Clio buyers are probably not as motivated by F1 as potential Alpine buyers are.

I would love for Vettel to stay and retire in his own terms but I'm biased toward more younger guys to be given their chance at glory. Vettel had his.
 
My feelings on this will largely depend on where Perez winds up, if he manages to stay in the series. With next year being a lame duck season and the rules reset being pushed to 2022 I don’t think he’ll be scoring (m)any points in the near future. Haas or whoever will need to step up significantly with the next car.

OTOH, if Vettel can get a few more wins out of it that’s cool. But Racing Point don’t seem to have the momentum they had earlier in the season.

You know what, I don't even think Haas will be an option. Remember the last time Carlos Slim worked with Haas and Daniel Suarez?

He would have to be desperate to go back to Haas at this point, but I wonder if there is still bad blood between those two?

Didn’t even think of that. I also totally missed they had previous engagement with Esteban Gutierrez. Lord, that feels so much further in the past than it was.

Sergio is at least a safer bet than most other options so I would hope they could figure something out. Slim has reason to keep Checo in the sport and Haas needs some form of additional outside funding.

I could also see Alfa as a possibility if Kimi leaves. Sergio and one Ferrari junior moving up from F2 sounds alright to me.

Mick Schumacher will take Giovinazzi’s seat for FP1 at Germany while Callum Ilott will take one of the Haas cars. Robert Schwartzman will get a run with one of the teams at Abu Dhabi.

I remember reading some speculation that Honda may leave after they only signed a 1 year renewal with RB, but this is still surprising none the less.

Is Ferrari the only realistic option for RB now? Surely Merc aren't going the supply them and we all know the relationship between them and Renault. This gives me some real concern about the future of RB in the sport now.

Wow. I guess we can safely say now the turbo hybrid V6 era has been a flop for everyone besides Mercedes. What a failure.

Red Bull and AlphaTauri are kinda screwed here. The Ferrari PU obviously sucks; you would have to bank on them making massive upgrades when the new regulations debut. Mercedes won’t give them anything. With McLaren switching next year Renault should have the capacity for them again, although Abiteboul might want to make Horner beg for it first.
 
Unbelievable, I have a feeling Red Bull is going to pull the plug on F1 sooner than later. Man, to think that might be a possibility of them pulling the plug would be devastating to F1 in its current state. These engines are far too complex, too expensive, and teams are happy enough to take it on the chin. However, with Honda pulling out I feel horrible for Yuki Tsunonda. Honda has pushed him and with Red Bull possibly starting to look at other options...

F1 needs solutions and quickly, this is not a good sign after Honda just signing on five years ago. I'm not sure any other manufacturers would be heavily interested either. They need simplified, cost effective solutions. This is something everyone has known for ages.

Also, I have a feeling Honda to NASCAR is starting to sound less far-fetched as expected.

I think my first call has to be Toyota here. TRD in F1 would be incredible
