Daytona 500 RACE thread ! !

I thought he was blaming the 34.

But we know how Brad feels about blocking.

He said “I had a run and turned down to try to make a pass to win the Daytona 500” - I thought it seemed obvious he was talking about Joey. Jeff seemed to agree.

I find it kinda weird that Hamlin executed that last green flag pit stop to perfection & that's exactly the reason he lost the race. Sometimes luck isn't on your side in these plate races.

Denny said it best, you can't win for 4th or 5th on the last lap.

That **** has to stop, if they can drive side by side or even three wide for over 10 laps... Man I know damn well you can setup your moves with about 5-7 laps to go.

I love plate racing, but this is the infuriating part of it all.

Everyone is talking about who threw a bad block or who punted the car in front of them. That’s the wrong conversation.

If these guys had any experience with racing hard and knowing what their cars would do in a dicey situation in the race, the ending laps may not be so chaotic.

Instead they have no idea and combine that with desperate moves and it’s dumb as hell.

Kyle Busch has really grown on me since the miscarriage deal. Seems as if that was a necessary (albeit) trauma he had to endure.

His attitude has been so different the last year, imo.

He signed a One year deal. For some reason i could see him walking away .... that's just me though
I didn't realize it was a one year deal. Where else could he go?

Come to think of it, he posted a checklist this year of his goals.

500, Championship.

Given how he reacted, makes you wonder.

Brad Keselowski ends with a wrecked race car. Dude has to be up there as the most wrecked race cars amongst active drivers. Dude wrecks every single plate race.

Hence why i would not be surprised if Brad retired at the end of the Season. If i had to guess maybe JGR if Truex left or maybe another Ford team

"if we couldn't win it, I am glad it was him".

A bit of passive aggression there from Joey?

It's chaos it's not racing. The drivers and broadcasters are straight up telling us that. That word is being used over and over now. No one is trying to hide what type of entertainment they're selling us.

My point is that sometimes terrible situations pave way for growth.

Could have stated it differently... Growth has nothing to do with something that devastating.

I could see him retiring after achieving those goals, he's got a beautiful family and his own manufacturing business.

I could see him getting back into ownership one day.

What shocks me is that the problem isn’t really the racing package.

With ~30 to go, the Fords dove to the bottom to make their pit stops and they all passed the leaders.

Passing is possible and it’s done without a ton of effort, they get huge runs.

The driver mentality just doesnt want to jump out of line, risking getting washed. So it ends up in the mess we see.

I think if you give the drivers the ability to talk to each other again, they can figure out who is pushing who and more lanes will be created.
