2021 Food City Dirt Race Pre Race Thread

I thought the race was at 8 (was watching golf/basketball) then got a text from my dad saying the trucks lasted a lap before they had to red flag it...lol. I'm hoping to see at least one lap of green.....

Stupid question - why do the Trucks have problems that the late models apparently don't?
air intakes that feed the radiators don't clog with mud as easily
Not now, but I assume they do at their own dirt races.
Look at the pic I'm sure you will figure it out. Right at the top of the 1 is where the air exhausts

Looking at how long it's going to take to get the track ready, and considering tommorrow, it's expected to rain all day,

See you guys on Monday

Sorry I am not getting it about Bubba's suit, it looks like he needs a hunting rifle in his hands. or driving for the Army :idunno:

In a weird way the rain is our friend this weekend. Not only
will it improve the tracks raceability , it will keep the dust at
bay a little longer. Just hope we get some long dry windows.

My question is the windscreens. How many and what are
the maximum tearoffs one can have on the car. I am interested
to see if there will be vision issues.
I hate it when your fears come true.......

Yes, you think it takes awhile to dry a pavement track.....you pretty much have to let mother nature dry a dirt track.
About all you can do is try and turn that top layer over and then let nature dry the track.
Yep, while on a paved oval, once the rain stops, send out the jet dryer, and the track will be ready in an hour or two

I was going to ask how humidity/dew points affect various dirt track compositions? I noticed the humidity is going to be in the 75-85% range and dew points in the 55-65 range until drier air moves in tomorrow evening.

I have to think they use various dirt setups around the country depending on the climate, time of year?

I can't believe NASCAR hasn't bought a supply of KN95 masks for everyone. Put it on, take it off and adjust the nose to suit your face and never touch it after. I'm afraid it's more about politics than safety. The drivers don't want to wear them so use something they have to keep ****** with. Just trying to make a point. JMHO.

I used to help prep dirt tracks. A decent amount of rain is good, because it makes the track nice and tacky, and you get good grip. That makes for a multi-groove track for the night. But there's a fine line when it reaches the point of too much rain. Bristol might be a nice track for racing if they can get it packed down.

Peeling off the mud is a slow, tedious process, especially on a half-mile. It can be time consuming.
