Bubba Wallace Appreciation Thread

Bubba is a national treasure. 28 freaking years old. Just awesome.
I wanted to watch that ESPN special but I missed it. He is old enough now that hopefully he won't throw anymore childish tantrums and he has learned that you don't throw water in the face of a fellow driver while said driver is sitting on the ground receiving medical attention. I was such a bubba fan until that day...but I lost a lot of respect for him after that. I'm starting to get some of that respect back since he started driving for Mr. J, and I'm hoping for a good season for the 23 and 45 cars next year.... Just not as good a season as the 5, 9, 48, and 24 cars though. :D

did he call him a hack?

Bowman deserved every bit of that water.

You never turn a car driver side into the wall.
Alex chose the safest place to get his point across. They were at low speed and there was a safer barrier there and the car verily hit the wall. If he did that on an oval at high speed, then I would agree with you but that wasn't the case. The point must have gotten across because I haven't heard anything about Bubba giving any of the drivers the finger since.

Really? I think you are smarter than to suggest that taking a guy out is the only way to "get a point across." Ask Chase Elliott. Perhaps Bubba should have thanked Alex for keeping safety in mind. What a gentleman. Absurd.

Where in my post, did I suggest taking out a guy was the only way to get a point across? There are many ways to get a point across, but he chose that one just like a lot of the drivers do. All I said was that he did it in a safe place on the track and that it looked like he must have gotten his point across. I hope you start taking the time to comprehend my posts better because I'm not going to keep wasting my time explaining them to you...or maybe you are just trying to troll me into an argument like you do with so many on here.;)

Don't take the bait.

All of Rev's drivers know how to get their point across in a classy way. Just ask Ron Hornaday.

Bowman didn't choose that place....that place was handy, and he chose to wreck Bubba rather than Chase Elliott him.

Maybe that is why Hamlin and Bubba get a long so good...they both know how to throw childish tantrums. Kurt should fit right in because he can show them both how a champion can throw a tantrum. :)
Lately or just past situations?

Yawn. Let me know when you are finished.

I’m not a fan. He seems arrogant without the success. On the other hand love Bowman, he seems like such a chill, easy going dude

Brash, but whats wrong with being confident?

You've got to meet Bubba outside of the track, he's legitmately one of the nicest dudes you will talk to. Had the pleasure of bumping into him a few times.

I like him, and I like him a lot. He is going to tell you what he thinks. No bull****. I admire that.

To the haters

Glad to see Bubba get the win and am very happy for him. If he wants to be treated like any other driver these kind of actions won't help. KDB doesn't get respect by similar antics and neither will Bubba. Just race Bubba and let the results show what you have accomplished.

Disagree because Kyle doesn't get hate for no reason by a bunch of racist hicks

....I mean, KB does the pouty thing because he's a villain of the sport and embraces the role.

Bubba does this because he's continuously harassed and is the target of racist name calling. Shooshing the camera to push back against legitimate racial agression is not the same thing as crying to the camera because you're a villain of the sport.

Bubba will never be treated like any driver by the people he's referencing because of the color of his skin.

This is a remarkably naive comment. Come on

You ever comment on any other driver's response to winning?

I ****** love a Bubba Wallace for every ****** reason that it is special. This is a great day!

Honestly don't know. If I did it would have been about Kyle. Most drivers usually don't have the same reactions when celebrating a win. Carl's backflips were cool and the Dillion belly slide was a bit odd.
I said, I like Bubba, have followed him for years, probably before most on here. My opinion is its up to everyone to act and be treated equally.

I don't disagree with you. In NASCAR fans in the past treated most drivers outside of the south in a similar way. Maybe those drivers responded the same, but I don't recall that happening.
Whats naive about wanting Bubba to be treated the same as anyone else and not trying to antagonize a response?

Really impressed with how that team has stepped it up the last couple of months. I hate to see a Toyota in victory lane, but I'm really happy for Bubba and Bootie. Bootie wasn't at HMS all that long, but I always think of him as one of "OUR" guys. I'd like to see some of those idiots put some kind of an asterisk on this win. Bubba just flat out whooped everybody in the third stage of the race.

Bootie was the crew chief for Dave Blaney in the #77. He would occasionally join us in discussions on Dave's message board. I know he went out of his way for a couple "Blaniacs" that were going through some difficult times. I also remember him coming up to greet us when we went to the Jasper Engine race shop. Indeed he is one of the good guys. Great to see him get this win.

I thought it was immensely cool that one of the first things Bubba talked about was how Denny took a crummy car to start, and made it into a contender by the end of the race...and that was the next step he needed to be able to take. I think that was the Denny and/or Kurt effect on Bubba. To say that when the Adeline is flowing, and he must have felt like he ruled the world is pretty damn mature and impressive. I am so proud of this guy.

I need Jordan brand to get on the ball and make this dude a signature shoe or let him design a colorway on one of their retros!

Like he didn't come for 22nd place at Talledega and held off two Penskes, but okay then.
Well, for most of us, it's hard to read too much into plate race wins, especially if you don't win them a LOT. For others, it was just a way to not give Bubba ANY credit.

The average bear has seldom, if ever, driven any kind of car at a sustained speed of 100 mph.

But 200 in intense traffic lap after lap is so easy a hauler driver can do it.
