Dirt Late Models 2022

33 cars may not sound like a lot, but WoO at Boone is loaded with with heavy hitters tonight. Only a 3 hour haul from I-80, and on the way home for most of them, so was easy for this $20,000 to win date to piggyback.

Wish I could watch this one, I love Boone. When I used to be real big into the USMTS series I was gonna make it a plan almost every year to get out there and watch the summernationals, but I never did.

Too many competing streamers. Guess Woo is on Dirtvision or something else?

Tuned in during the first heat. The Flo broadcast had it labeled as the A-Main, I thought oh crap for a second, I missed everything and only seven cars showed up.

MARS ran a B-Main, then decided to start all 28 cars anyway. So they basically ran a dash to set the back of the field instead of the front.

Looking like they may finally beat JD tonight.

Good race until the top rubbered up, then it turned into a freight train. Really a good illustration of why "close" racing doesn't mean good racing. Top three nose to tail but no chance of passing, leader couldn't lap anyone either.

I thought for sure that Pierce would send it low into one on the last lap, lapped cars be damned

He tried that a couple of times before and it didn't work. When a track locks down like that, the fastest way around in where it's locked down.

Man, I picked the wrong year not to go to Fairbury. Thought about going, decided I'd stay close to home and cover things around here. Tonight rained out, tomorrow is 50/50.

Worst thing about dirt racing for the competitors. Drive 1000 miles to get rained-out.

Not rained or raining at Fairbury. Not sure where you got that info. HTF doing a Patreon live right now.

I know most of the late model guys who post here don't have DIRTVision. The racing at FALS is typically wild and exciting. The field of 81 has been split into four tonight for four qualifying "features". Winners through the first three are Tyler Bruening, Brandon Sheppard, and Mike Marlar. Fourth is coming up. There have been surprise guys locking in and some heavy hitters that will be running Bs tomorrow.

Larson wins the fourth feature to put it in the show and redraw tomorrow night. Bobby Pierce goes 19th to fourth.

HTF had a guy take a chunk out of the nose attempting a slider. Killed their forward progress. Finished 12th. Have to run LCQ to qualify for B-Main. Gonna be tough. Already swapped nose and loaded car. Can't imagine how hard it is to sleep after a race like that.

whats cool ,all these heats where on youtube late nite already. 20 cars per heat is just cool

B-Shepp leads all 100 laps to win, collecting $100,000 with lap leader bonuses, always looking comfortable and in control. Lots of wild racing and movement behind him. Bobby Pierce advanced from 16th to 2nd and looked poised to challenge, but faded and broke. Later Kyle Larson surged to second, before fading and breaking as well. In the end Marlar finishes second, with Tanner English, Tyler Erb, and Ryan Gustin in tow.

Tuesday's FloRacing event at 34 Raceway has been cancelled due to tire shortages. Is this a convenient excuse or are we finally close to what many have been predicting all year? There has been a lot of racing over the past 2 months and we're just now through big money season.

HTF ordered 24 tires while still in Florida. Got 7. They left Fairbury headed to Cedar Lake with the assurances from Woo they would have tires available @ the track. Is 34 Raceway "Cedar Lake"?

No 34 Raceway is in Iowa, Cedar Lake is in Wisconsin

Interesting

I figured he'd wind up there once he left Lucas.

Davenport wins yet again at Cedar Lake and is now a three-time USA Nationals champ. Madden second. Terbo came from 20th to finish third, and made a couple runs at JD. Would have rather seen a new winner, but JD is the class of the field right now at most places they go.

Appears Capital Chassis may have found something. Clanton won hot laps/qualifying/heat race/feature. Even more impressive to me, Hunt The Front, which hasn't made a race in their trip North, Qualified 3rd, won their heat, started feature 3rd & finished 5th with Davenport all over him. Said Clanton had come over and had them change some things, The 2022 car has been opposite of their other cars. Great in the wet/heavy, goes backward in the slick.

We'll see tonight if they have actually found something. The others will be better.
