Watkins Glen Pre-Race thread

Man that finish was fun. I couldn't stay seated. I figured the more I yelled at Brad the better chance he had at winning; guess that didn't work. :dunce:

As stated though, best race of the year last year IMO.

Watching that back, it seemed like if Brad stays out of Kyle's way, he beats Ambrose because he wouldn't have the tire rub. Kyle wouldn't have been able to hold off Brad.

Yeah the finish had a little of everything, backwards burnouts, loops and spins, a little 4 wheeling dirt rat race. I think Kyle didn't realize it was time to go elbows up and get after it. Those two went crazy, I thought Kez had him.

I enjoyed it then I realized Gordon had spun on the last lap, last turn. Then I got pissed and turn the tv off. o_O

Kyle played chicken with Kez one time too many and paid the price. Not many people have noticed, but that the second time in 2 years Ambrose knocked Kez out of the lead on the last lap. I hope Marcos handles it well when it comes back around.

I have watched that many times and place it in my top 3 finishes of all time.

I also say that Kyles arrogance in the final laps of this race cost him his chase spot last year.

Regardless of who wins I am looking forward to it as the racing is generally good at the Glen.

I may complain about several tracks but I love the Glen.:) That finish was the best I have ever seen on a road course. Ambrose is the real deal on these road courses.

I don't get the skyrocketing expectations for this race . Nor did I understand the low expectations for the Pocono race .To me ,they are all the same .I look forward to them all.

On the N'wide side, there are the usual suspects. Snidely whiplash..Kyle Busch, howdy doody....Joey, Space cadet...Kasey, and Last but not least, Captain America..Brad the Kez. and we have the usual bunch of X cuppers in the show. I'm sure Kyle and the Kez will get along famously, totally forgetting the hit and run from last year. No points involved, just a little money and bragging rights for those two. If it comes down to it again, it could be the race of the weekend.

doubling up on your medication tends to produce that effect . . .

Watkins Glen is a much better road course for stock cars than Sonoma, in my humble opinion.

18 different drivers have won at Watkins Glen International in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, led by Tony Stewart with 5 wins.

WG is good, better than Sonoma but I think last year was overrated. The ending was good...but that was about it.

That definitely was a great finish! One of these years I'll make it down to WG and see a race; the track's only about an hour from where I live :D

We are looking at maybe attending this race starting next season. It's only a 4 1/2 hour tow for us. We are giving up Bristol after this fall because of the costs. Watkins Glen is a bargain by comparison. My brother and I used to go to this track long ago. The last time there for me was in 1991. JD McDuffy was killed at the end of the back stretch. That was before they installed the bus stop. That was also the reason that they installed it. I sure would like to see them open up the Boot section of the track at some point.

I could have gone to college , but I don't think they had them back then.:(

Freaking love The Glen. Would love to go there to see a race.

Here's a thought. You know how TRL starting putting sticky's for the race threads? Why not keep the pre race thread at the top until the race thread is made then switch em? Just to have this weeks race always at the top, then all the other topics below.. ?
