Richmond at Night --- RACE thread.

Jr was actually penalized back in 04 for intentionally spinning out, but was only penalized after he admitted it was intentional.

Yep, and what I think Bowyer did was actually worse. When Jr did it he did it to help himself so he could pit. What Bowyer did was fix a race, and the Chase field. I lost all respect for him, and MWR tonight. Sore f#cking lovers.

I see the conspiracy theorists were out in force last night; and that some don't realize missing the Chase is due to what happened all season, not just in the last race.
Oh, so Bowyers spin had no effect on the chase contenders......it was the results from throughout the season. thanks for that.

No more or less effect than the mistakes the #24, #2, and #39 made during the previous races. The only teams affected were those who started the race outside the top 10. If your only hope is to win the last race, you clearly didn't do what you needed to in the first 25.

I think Nascar will love this, more people talking about it and I bet a lot more news coverage.

May be a good thing. With football now upon us, we are at the time of year where NASCAR's TV ratings typically go off a cliff, this may take a few eyes off of the pigskin and onto the track.

So you'll stop watching?
Perhaps. If NASCAR doesn't do anything, which is the likely outcome since they're a paper tiger, I'll probably stick to the Truck Series since that's about the only series they haven't completely butchered yet. Other than that, I'll probably dedicate the rest of my Sundays to watching the Bucs and Giants. And if nothing happens to MWR and I keep coming back often to talk about the racing you can poke fun at me, because I'll deserve it for continuing to be a giant lemming.

Good morning folks.

top of the morning to you, too . . .

Watchin' the truck race this afternoon ?

If so, be sure to keep a clean change of underwear on hand . . .:D

HI, sweetie. I will be switching back and forth between that and football. I only need to watch my underwear when I am posting with you sexy men on here. :p

I'm not a Newman fan, think his best days are behind him but he was on the wheel last night, the way he raced up to the lead was pretty badass.

I'll have to add you to my list of imaginary girlfriends that I use to make my wife jealous.

NASCAR is backtracking from comments made last night and is launching an investigation:

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — NASCAR is reviewing evidence to determine if Michael Waltrip Racing attempted to manipulate the outcome of race that set the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship field.

NASCAR President Mike Helton told The Associated Press before Sunday's Truck Series race at Iowa that race control did not believe Clint Bowyer's spin with seven laps remaining at Richmond was suspicious.

It brought out a caution with Ryan Newman leading Saturday night and poised to claim the final berth in the 12-driver Chase field. That set in motion a chain of events leading to Bowyer's teammate Martin Truex Jr. earning the final berth and Newman losing both the race and a spot in the Chase.

An ESPN replay that included communication between Bowyer and his team implied the spin was deliberate. Helton says NASCAR will look for evidence of wrongdoing.

Just as long as she doesn't come after me, we're ok.

excellent

Fair warning though, I've got a tee-shirt that says "There's no sense being a dirty old man if you can't act like one."

just sayin' . . .

I'm not saying Bowyer spun on purpose nor am I saying it was an accident. It comes down to MWR as an organization to blame if it was intentional. There was a lot more going on in that race with a lot of teams than most people noticed. Do I blame Bowyer for Gordon/ Newman not making the chase? Nope, they haven't had the best season ever and you can't blame all of that on one race. Sucks but its the truth.

Of course you wouldn't understand, look who your driver is, if the cheating had not happened he wouldn't of won.
