Gibbs to hold press conference Tuesday: According to Joe Gibbs Racing, they will hold a press conference Tuesday, August 19 at 10:00am/et and "this unprecedented announcement will have impact across four NASCAR racing series."(Joe Gibbs Racing)
AND Joe Gibbs Racing will announce Carl Edwards as its fourth Sprint Cup driver for the 2015 season next Tuesday. However, the bigger news appears to involve Daniel Suarez, the 22-year-old darling of the NASCAR Drive for Diversity program, who will drive for JGR in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. Suarez, of Monterrey, Mexico, currently leads the NASCAR Mexico Toyota Series where he has nine victories in 52 career starts including four this season. Suarez has made dramatic improvement since joining the tour and has led 1,084 of the 7,790 laps raced. Suarez made his first career Nationwide Series start for JGR at Richmond in the #20 Toyota. Suarez qualified 12th and finished 19th. He completed all but one lap.(Motorsport)(8-15-2014)
 
Edwards to Gibbs = worst kept secret ever. As far as the Suarez move...what about Darrell Wallace??!
 
They seem to be more interested in keeping the Cup guys in their NNS cars.
 
Just let the Cup guys run for points and move on. At least the championship won't be a total farce..

Anyways hopefully Edwards has a Kenseth like resurgence next season. Assuming TRD can build cars that stay in one piece for the the aloted distance.

Suarez is supposedly pretty solid so could be a good move. I don't understand why Bubba Wallace isn't gettin the opportunity to move up. The man is gonna be a star.
 
Great news ...................... Gibbs cant keep 3 cars competitive, a fourth will surely improve that situation

Last I heard Bubba drove for KBM in the truck series, maybe Kyle wants to keep him

Revman knows how I feel about the situation, we respect each others opinion. Revman will be the first person to tell you that JGR isnt up to snuff yet this year

But TRD cars are in chase position so that makes them competitive. Especially with this points system & chase format :sarcasm:

On topic, I hope Edwards does well at JGR. Should be fun to watch. Get CE in a real ride, and everyone else should look the hell out. Look forward to a bunch of back flips next year.

One of those "cup series regulars" has made it possible for mr Wallace to drive a VERY competitive truck and get some wins. If he were stuck in some toad he most likely would just fade away. Kyle Busch gives much to this sport.............. just sayin
 
Dave Rogers can spend the off season "bringing the new team and crew chief up to speed", just like he did for Grubb and Ratcliff
a week before the season starts he can worry about putting some speed in the 18, Kyle wont mind :rolleyes:

So I wonder if Carl will also run #54?

He could bring #99 over to JGR, Roush ain't gonna be using it next year. I doubt Jack would let "the dark side" have it though.

lol...that's the funny part about these guys who actually run these lower level series, they actually think they are doing people a favor.

2 wins in 22 races for Toyota, yet it looks like 4 Toyotas are going to make the Chase. How's that "greater emphasis on winning" workin' out for ya Brian? ;)

My hope for the Chase is that Matt Kenseth wins the whole thing without winning a single race, just to further expose how flawed the format is.
 
My wife just read a post online somewhere that jgrs announcement isn't about Carl it's about them switching to Ford.

:rolleyes: He does the lower series a favor by funding 2 very competitive trucks, giving rides to young up and comers erik jones and bubba Wallace. Hate on him racing the lower divisions if you want, but he does plenty for the sport of nascar

Shoot, it might be true.... Didn't they say, “this unprecedented announcement will have impact across four NASCAR racing series.” ? Carl Edwards wouldn't do that, neither would Suarez....

My comments regarding Chase position when taken in context (I know...no fun) are in reference and agreement that JGR has not been up to speed but they still are in the game even in this off year. Carry on.

I didn't say it came from there. I think BobbyFord just asked if it had. All I know is it's a Facebook post on an edwards fan page.
 
It won't happen but it would shickle the tit outta me if JGR moved to ford. Could you imagine all of them trying to say FFF Fooo F oo rrr FORD there I said it damnit.
