Silly Season 2025

You don't think Richard could outbid front row for that charter?
Front Row seems to have found some money as of late and RCR has never been willing to throw a ton of money at stuff. Have to remember Richard isn't a business guy that had money and decided to go racing. He's a racer that figure out how to make the business work.

I think they're holding on to the #18 to see if Ty eventually wants it.
Come December, I bet we'll get an announcement from JGR, giving Toddler Ty the 18. It's inevitable
If Ty didn't want the #18 when he slid in behind KDB, why would he want it now? While I agree this is the opportunity to revive the #18, maybe Grandpa Joe doesn't feel about it like other owners do about their iconic numbers.

EDIT - posted before I saw the video of Joe's comments on the number.

Keith Rodden is taking over Petree's role at RCR?

Man, I guess.
I mean I'm biased because I thought he was an awful crew chief for Kasey, but I don't think that will fix things.

Eh, they had to do pretty much something, they suck this year. About the only way is up at this point.

I know he sucked with Kasey but Austin has been just as awful since he left as before

Yea I think they’re behind with cars and aero. I don’t think Ray Evernham circa 1995 could fix in a half season what’s ailing RCR. Seems they’ve fallen behind.

Well, in defense of Richard, he took his perennial backmarker team, found sponsorship and became a winning organization while Dale was fulfilling his obligations to Bud Moore. RCR is really the ONLY one of the classic independents to make the transition to top tier racing team, and that was starting to happen with or without Dale.

Oh no, remember that winery owning Poor Richard didn't have the resources to combat The Evil Empire in bidding for Reddick's services.

Same with Joe Gibbs, but....the narrative....and The Felon almost didn't make it if it wasn't for Geoff Bodine.....we love a rags to riches success story, but the fact of the matter is that most of us will never even know the seed money that it took to put one car on the track. When you have the money these guys have, they can hire people who know what the hell they are doing, or they wouldn't be here anymore.

I find that very hard to believe, but its their story and they can tell it however they want. I can't imagine they would have jumped all over him that quick had he not come attached to some money.
Pretty much wait and see what is on the side of his car. I would be surprised if the tractor wasn't on there.

Because you are going to call a press conference and lie. Why?

Huge vote of confidence from Johnny Morris and co. I think Briscoe is primed for a breakout year next season.
Such a great fit....but don't worry some around here will talk **** about Briscoe because of his new team....<Adjusts JGR hat>

Lying is one one the big reasons you HAVE a press conference. Press conferences are held to get YOUR side of the story you want to tell out there. Fact or fiction doesn't really play into it very much. Just this week a college baseball coach reamed out a reporter for asking a question about job opportunities he had elsewhere, only to quit and accept one of those jobs before the day was out. BALD FACED LIAR. I seem to recall a president who told us he wasn't a crook, and another that swore he didn't have relations with a certain intern. bald faced lies.......

JGR may have known about the sponsor(s) but Briscoe said “sponsorship money.” Not trying to be a smart Alec just a thought I had.

I think is the reason Andy "Got Retired". RC wants him to lead them back to a higher standing
Yeah ya never know, that has a tendency to wake everybody up and step a little livelier. Not having practice since covid is not helping Kyle. He likes to fine tune a car instead of being stuck with whatever right off the trailer.

Don’t understand the Keith Rodden thing for RCR. Hes been bad everywhere he’s been.

Kasey Kahne’s performance tanked with him on the box. Went from one of the best in the sport to a backmarker overnight. Austin Dillon went from winning a race and making the Chase in 2022, to running 30th every week. It’s been so bad they just replaced Rodden with the guy he replaced originally as CC.

Seems like just the guy to turn around an organization so behind on performance that Kyle freaking Busch can’t run 30 laps without wrecking by himself.

I believe Kyle Busch will be driving for another team next year. I have no inside info on this. It just seems like this is heading toward a divorce.

Starting to think Kyle ends up at 23XI. He gets back to Toyota without having to _directly_ crawl back to the Preacherman.
