Pretty strange since this is the beginning of the third year with these cars, but there are some sudden concerns with the hybrids after a rash of HV failures this week. Sounds as though some new pieces in the most recent production batch may be the culprit.

Why should I be interested in the LMP2 class? No factory affiliation that I can tell? Just seems like spec cars or very much the same. I’m very ignorant to this race and race cars even though I’ve been watching for a few years. Maybe it’s just me needing something I can identify with.
 
I know it’s hardly push time yet, but…boy, that was a dominant stint from Dries. Already loving BMW’s driver lineup shakeup.

It's not technically a spec class but they're in the ninth year of the current regulations and one chassis just turned out to be superior to the three others.
There are a bunch of notable drivers in LMP2 cars in this one including Herta, Pietro l Bourdais, Sowery and Felipe Massa.

It's become more competitive in the last couple of years. If it's not your thing, no problem. I overlooked it for years. There are three other classes to enjoy.

It started out with four chassis options but everyone pretty swiftly moved to the ORECA once it was apparent it was the best overall package. So it effectively is a spec chassis/engine category now. It also has a bronze mandate where each car includes a gentleman driver, who typically funds the entry themselves.

That said, each entry also has a couple of pro drivers, a number of which are IndyCar guys or factory guys who didn’t otherwise have an obligation or opportunity this weekend - Colton Herta is in there and there’s also representation from Cadillac, Alpine, Ferrari, and Peugeot WEC Hypercar drivers.
 
Lambover already…that sucks. I hope they figure that car out sooner than later. Very troubled so far.

Riley got screwed.

Supposedly, the chassis given to them was a show car chassis. The whole Iron Lynx debacle left Lamborghini with no chassis as IL is supposedly holding onto the chassis used in IMSA and WEC last season.

Riley was given this program about two or three weeks ago.
 
trackhouse currently doing in the rolex 24 and have they put pitbull in the car yet
 
The 31 is hanging in there but I haven’t really seen anything out of the WTR cars yet from Cadillac. Wonder if they’re simply playing it close to the vest still.

The Lexuseses have been pretty anonymous in the GT3 ranks so far.

It’s a good stretch of the race for Trackhouse/TF to get Keating’s drive time out of the way in the 91.
